Matthew 4 uses
Jesus went from place to place all over Galilee. He taught in their synagogues, announced the gospel of the kingdom, and healed every disease and every illness among the people.
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, announcing the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every illness.
This gospel of the kingdom will be announced throughout the world, so that every nation hears the witness, and only then will the end come.
Truly I tell you, in every place in the whole world where this gospel is proclaimed, people will also tell what she has done, so that she is remembered.”
Mark 8 uses
The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ.
After John had been handed over, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming God’s gospel. “The appointed time has arrived in full,” he said, “and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
Anyone set on keeping their life safe will lose it, and anyone who loses their life because of me and the gospel will save it.
Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, anyone who has left a home, brothers or sisters, mother or father, children or land because of me and because of the gospel will receive a hundred times as much now, in this present time: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and land, together with persecutions. And in the age that is coming they will receive eternal life.
And first the gospel has to be proclaimed to all the nations.
Truly I tell you, in every place in the whole world where the gospel is proclaimed, people will tell what she has done, and remember her.”
He told them, “Go out into the whole world and announce the gospel to all of creation.
Acts 2 uses
After a long debate, Peter rose and spoke to them: “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made his choice among you: through my mouth the Gentiles were to hear the message of the gospel and come to believe. God, who knows every heart, bore witness to them by giving them the Holy Spirit, as he did for us as well. He made no difference at all between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts by faith.
But I set no value on my life, as if it were precious to me. All I want is to run my course to the end and carry out the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus: to bear full witness to the gospel of the grace of God.
Romans 8 uses
From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God. God promised this gospel long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. It concerns his Son, who by human descent was born of the line of David, and who was appointed Son of God in power, through the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him we have received grace and apostleship, to bring about the obedience of faith among all the nations for the sake of his name. You are among them, you whom Jesus Christ has called to be his own. To all of you in Rome whom God loves and has called to be his holy people: grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
God, whom I serve with my whole spirit in proclaiming the gospel of his Son, can testify how constantly I remember you in my prayers. I am always asking that somehow, if God wills it, the way may at last be opened for me to come to you.
I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is God’s own power at work to save everyone who believes, the Jew first and the Greek as well.
Their conduct shows that the work of the law is written in their hearts. Their conscience bears witness too, and their thoughts argue with one another, now accusing them, now defending them, on the day when God, through Christ Jesus, judges the hidden things in people’s lives, as the gospel I preach says.
But not all have obeyed the gospel. Isaiah asks, “Lord, who has believed what we have told?”
As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as God’s choice is concerned, they are loved because of the patriarchs.
Yet on some points I have written to you quite boldly, to remind you of them again. I have done so because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus for the Gentiles. I serve the gospel of God like a priest, so that the Gentiles may become an offering that God accepts, made holy by the Holy Spirit.
I will not venture to speak of anything but what Christ has done through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience, through what I have said and done, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit. So I have completed the preaching of the gospel of Christ in a wide circle from Jerusalem as far as Illyricum. My aim has been to preach the gospel where Christ was not yet known, so that I would not build on a foundation someone else had laid. Instead, as it is written, “Those who were never told of him will see, and those who never heard will understand.”
1 Corinthians 8 uses
Though you may have countless guides to bring you up in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For it was I who fathered you in Christ Jesus, through the gospel.
Yet we never claimed this right. We put up with every hardship so as not to block the path of the gospel of Christ in any way.
In just this way the Lord directed that those who announce the gospel should live from the gospel.
It is this: when I preach the gospel, I offer it at no cost to anyone, and so I do not use to the full the right I have in the gospel.
Everything I do is for the gospel’s sake, so that I may have my share in it together with them.
Brothers and sisters, I am setting out for you once more the gospel I proclaimed to you. You received it, you stand firm in it, and through it you are being saved, if you keep hold of the message as I proclaimed it to you. Otherwise you came to believe for nothing.
2 Corinthians 8 uses
When I came to Troas for the gospel of Christ, I found a door standing open for me in the Lord’s work. Even so, my spirit could not settle, because Titus my brother was nowhere to be found. So I took leave of the believers there and set out for Macedonia.
2 Corinthians 4:3 2 Corinthians 4:4
If our gospel is veiled at all, it is veiled from those who are perishing. Among them the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, so that they cannot see the light that shines out from the gospel, the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Traveling with Titus is the brother whose work for the gospel has won him praise in all the churches; we are sending him too. Not only that: the churches voted to appoint him as our companion on the journey, as we take charge of this gift of grace. We do it to bring glory to the Lord himself, and because we are eager to help. We are guarding against any charge that could be brought against us over this large sum we are handling. Our concern is for what is honorable, both before the Lord and before people.
You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous in every way, and your generosity, carried by us, will bring about thanksgiving to God. For this relief, a sacred service, not only fills up what God’s holy people lack; it also overflows in many thanksgivings to God. This relief will show what you are, and they will give glory to God for it: for the way you submit to the gospel of Christ that you confess, and for the generosity of your partnership with them and with everyone. And when they pray for you, they will long for you, because of the surpassing grace of God that rests on you.
But we will not boast of things outside our measure. We will boast only within the measure of the field that God has measured out to us as ours, and it reaches even as far as you. We are not overstretching ourselves, as we would be if our field did not reach you; we did reach you, bringing the gospel of Christ. We do not boast of things outside our measure, in work that others have done. We hope instead that as your faith grows, we will be given far more room among you, still within our field, so that we can carry the gospel to the lands beyond you, without boasting of ground someone else has already prepared.
When anyone turns up and preaches another Jesus than the one we preached, or you take in a spirit unlike the one you received, or a gospel unlike the one you welcomed, you tolerate it splendidly!
Or was it a sin on my part to lower myself so that you could be lifted up, by proclaiming God’s gospel to you without charging you anything?
Galatians 7 uses
I am astonished that you are so quickly turning away from God, who called you by the grace of Christ, and going over to a different gospel. But there is no second gospel. There are only some people who are unsettling you and want to twist the gospel of Christ into something else.
For I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is no human invention.
I went up because God had shown me that I should. I set out before them the gospel I proclaim among the Gentiles, though I did this privately, with those who were regarded as leaders. I did not want to find that I was running, or had run, for nothing.
This came up because of false brothers who had been smuggled in. They slipped in to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, so that they could make us slaves. We did not give in to them, not even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would remain with you.
As for those who were regarded as important (what they once were makes no difference to me, since God is not swayed by a person’s standing), those leaders added nothing to my message. On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been for the circumcised. For God, who was at work in Peter to make him an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me for the Gentiles. James, Cephas and John, who were regarded as pillars, recognized the grace that had been given to me, and they gave Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship. We agreed that we would go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.
But when I saw that they were not walking in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How then can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”
Ephesians 4 uses
And you also are in him. You heard the message of truth, the gospel that brings you salvation, and you believed; and in him you were sealed with the Holy Spirit God had promised. The Spirit is the down payment on our inheritance, until God redeems those who are his own possession, so that his glory will be praised.
God made the mystery known to me by revelation, as I have briefly written already. When you read this, you will be able to see my understanding of the mystery of Christ. In other generations it was not made known to humankind as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to his holy apostles and prophets. This is the mystery: through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace, which was given to me through the working of his power. Though I am less than the least of all God’s holy people, this grace was given to me: to bring the Gentiles the good news of the riches of Christ, riches no one can ever fully trace, and to make plain to everyone how the mystery is being carried out, the mystery that for ages past was hidden in God, who created all things. God’s aim was that now, through the church, his wisdom in all its rich variety would be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was in keeping with the purpose he has had through all the ages, which he carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord. In him, through faith in him, we can come to God boldly and with confidence.
So stand your ground. Tie truth around your waist as a belt, and put on righteousness as your breastplate. For shoes, put on the readiness that the gospel of peace gives. In every situation take up faith as your shield; with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows of the evil one.
Receive salvation as your helmet, and the sword that the Spirit gives, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at every opportunity, with every kind of prayer and request. To that end, keep watch, never giving up, and make requests for all God’s holy people. Pray also for me, that when I open my mouth I will be given the words to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. For its sake I am an ambassador, though in a chain. Pray that I may speak of it boldly, as I must.
Philippians 9 uses
Philippians 1:5 Philippians 1:7
Each time I remember you, I give thanks to my God. In every prayer I offer for all of you, I always pray with joy, because from the very first day until now you have been partners with me in the gospel. Of this I am convinced: the one who started a good work in you will keep working at it until it is finished on the day of Christ Jesus. It is only right for me to think this way about all of you, because I hold you in my heart. All of you are partners with me in God’s grace, both in my chains and as I defend the gospel and show that it stands firm.
I want you to understand, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has moved the gospel forward rather than holding it back. As a result, the whole imperial guard and everyone else here have come to see that I am in chains for the sake of Christ. And my chains have given most of the brothers and sisters confidence in the Lord, so that they dare to speak the word far more boldly and without fear.
These act out of love, because they know I am stationed here to defend the gospel. The others proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, with motives that are not pure. They think they can make my time in chains more painful.
Just one thing: live as citizens in a way worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am away and only hear about you, I will know that you are standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side as one for the faith of the gospel, and not letting your opponents frighten you in any way. This courage is a sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and it comes from God. For God has given you the gift, for the sake of Christ, not only of believing in him but also of suffering for him. You are in the same contest that you once watched me face, and that you now hear I am facing still.
But you know how he has proved himself: like a son working alongside his father, he has served with me in spreading the gospel.
Yes, and I ask you, my true partner, to help these women. They have fought side by side with me for the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
You know it yourselves, Philippians: in those first days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, yours was the only church that went into partnership with me in an account of giving and receiving. Even in Thessalonica you sent help for my needs more than once.
Colossians 2 uses
Every time we pray for you, we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s holy people. That faith and love spring from the hope kept safe for you in heaven, the hope you first heard about in the message of truth, the gospel that has reached you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, and it has done the same among you from the day you heard it and came to know God’s grace in all its truth. You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who serves Christ faithfully on our behalf. He is also the one who told us about your love in the Spirit.
Once you were estranged from God, hostile to him in your thinking, as your evil deeds showed. But now you have been reconciled by Christ’s death in his physical body, so that God may bring you into his presence holy, without blemish, and free from any charge, provided that you stay in the faith, firm on your foundation and steady, not drifting away from the hope held out in the gospel you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and I, Paul, have become its servant.
1 Thessalonians 6 uses
Every time we mention you in our prayers, we give thanks to God for all of you. Before our God and Father we never stop remembering the work your faith does, the labor your love takes on, and the endurance your hope in our Lord Jesus Christ gives you. Brothers and sisters loved by God, we know that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with full certainty. You know what kind of people we were among you for your sake.
You know yourselves, brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not wasted. We had already suffered and been shamefully treated in Philippi, as you know, but our God gave us courage to tell you his gospel in spite of strong opposition.
Our preaching does not come from error or from impure motives, and it uses no deceit. Instead, God has tested us and approved us to be entrusted with the gospel, and that is how we speak: not to please people, but to please God, who tests our hearts.
Our longing for you was such that we gladly gave you not only the gospel of God but ourselves too, for you had become dear to us.
You remember, brothers and sisters, how hard we worked and toiled: we labored night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you while we preached the gospel of God to you.
So, when we could not bear the waiting any longer, we decided to stay behind in Athens on our own and sent you Timothy, our brother and God’s fellow worker in the gospel of Christ. We sent him to make you strong and to encourage you in your faith, so that none of you would be shaken by these troubles.
2 Thessalonians 2 uses
We are bound to thank God for you at all times, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing beyond measure and the love every one of you has for the others keeps increasing. So we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God, because of your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and troubles you are bearing. All this is evidence that God judges rightly, and the result will be that you are counted worthy of God’s kingdom, for which you are suffering. For it is right for God to repay with suffering those who make you suffer, and to give rest to you who suffer, as to us also, when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven with his mighty angels in a blaze of fire, bringing punishment on those who do not know God and on those who refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, cut off from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his power, on that day when he comes to be glorified among his holy people and marveled at by all who believed. And you are among those believers, for when we bore witness to you, you believed it.
But we must always thank God for you, brothers and sisters whom the Lord loves, because God chose you, as the first of a harvest, to be saved, through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your faith in the truth. To this he called you when we brought you the gospel, so that you would come to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Timothy 1 use
We know that the law is good, if it is used as it should be. We know that law is not made for people who do right, but for the lawless and the rebellious, the ungodly and sinners, those who have no regard for what is holy, those who kill their fathers or mothers, murderers, the sexually immoral, men who have sex with men, slave traders, liars, those who break their oaths, and whatever else goes against the sound teaching that agrees with the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which has been entrusted to me.
2 Timothy 3 uses
So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me, his prisoner. Instead, share with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God. He saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we had done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before eternal ages began, and now it has been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. For this gospel I was appointed a herald, an apostle and a teacher.
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead and descended from David, as my gospel proclaims.
Philemon 1 use
I would have liked to keep him here with me, so that he could serve me in your place while I am in chains for the gospel. But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any good you do would come from your own free choice and not be forced.
1 Peter 1 use
For now is the time for judgment to start, and it starts at God’s own house. If we are the first to face it, how will it end for those who refuse to obey God’s gospel?
Revelation 1 use
I saw another angel too, flying high in the sky, who carried an eternal gospel to proclaim to the people who live on the earth, to every nation, tribe, language, and people. In a loud voice he cried, “Stand in awe of God and give him glory, for the hour has come when he will judge. Worship the maker of heaven and earth, of the sea and the springs of water.”
