Terms of use
Last updated 15 October 2026
The translation is a gift: it is in the public domain. These terms cover using this website, and an account on it.
The translation is yours to use
The translation, its notes, its reasoning records and its alignments are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0. You may copy, print, translate, publish and build on them without asking and without paying. Credit is welcome but not required. The website’s code is MIT-licensed.
Other people’s texts
The source texts and data, and the reference Bibles shown for comparison, belong to others and keep their own licences, listed in Sources and credits. Check those licences before you reuse them.
A draft, not yet reviewed
Every sentence is drafted with AI help and stays marked unreviewed until a named reviewer who reads the original language approves it. Drafts can be wrong. Check anything that matters against the original languages and other translations, and please report mistakes.
Your account
Sign up with an email address that is yours, keep your password and your devices secure, and use one account for one person. You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
Using the site fairly
- Don’t try to break, overload or get around the security of the site or its API.
- Don’t pretend to be someone else, or use the site to harass, deceive or harm anyone.
- Don’t send anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to share.
- For the whole text, use the downloads, the API or the source on GitHub rather than scraping pages.
What you contribute
Suggestions, questions and corrections you send to the project, here or on GitHub, are dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 like the rest of the translation, so that they can be used in it. Send only what you have the right to give. Your bookmarks, highlights and private notes stay yours and private.
No warranty
The site and the translation are given freely, as they are, without warranty of any kind. As far as the law allows, Open Word Bible and its contributors are not liable for any loss that comes from using them. Nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you that cannot be taken away.
Ending and changes
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We may also update these terms; the date at the top says when they last changed, and using the site after a change means you accept it. Questions are welcome on GitHub. How we handle your data is set out in our privacy notice.
