For the shield that protects us is the LORD’s, and the king who rules us belongs to the Holy One of Israel.
How long, LORD? Will You keep Yourself hidden forever? Will Your anger go on burning like fire?
the insults Your enemies have hurled, LORD, the taunts that have dogged every step of Your anointed king.
May the LORD be blessed forever! Amen and amen.
Turn back to us, LORD! How long must we wait? Show pity to Your servants.
This is what I say about the LORD: “He is my shelter and my stronghold, my God, the one I rely on.”
For You, LORD, are my refuge! You have made the Most High your home.
It is a good thing to thank the LORD, to sing and play in praise of Your name, Most High,
For Your deeds, LORD, have filled me with joy; I sing out over all that Your hands have made.
LORD, how great the things You do! How very deep Your plans!
But You, LORD, are enthroned on high for all time.
Look at Your enemies, LORD! Look, Your enemies are doomed; everyone who does evil will be driven apart.
Rooted in the LORD’s house, they will bloom in the courtyards of our God.
bearing witness that the LORD is just: my rock, in whom nothing is crooked.
The LORD is King! He has put on majesty like a robe; the LORD has dressed Himself and tied on strength like a belt. The world stands firm; nothing can shake it.
The rivers have risen, LORD; the rivers have raised their roar; the rivers lift high their crashing waves.
Above the roar of the great waters, above the crash of the ocean’s breakers, the LORD is majestic on high.
Your decrees can be fully trusted; holiness suits Your house, LORD, for all time to come.
God of retribution, LORD, God of retribution, shine out!
LORD, how much longer will the wicked, how much longer will the wicked celebrate?
They grind down Your people, LORD; they oppress the nation that belongs to You.
The LORD knows what humans are thinking, and that their thoughts are only a puff of air.
The LORD will not reject His people; He will never desert those who belong to Him.
If the LORD had not helped me, I would soon have been living where all is silent.
The moment I said, “My foot is giving way,” Your loyal love, LORD, held me up.
But the LORD has proved to be my high fortress; my God has been a rock that shelters me.
He will make their evil recoil on them and put an end to them through their own wickedness; the LORD our God will put an end to them.
Come, let us sing out with joy to the LORD and raise a glad shout to the Rock who saves us.
For the LORD is a mighty God, a mighty King high over all gods,
Come, let us bow down to the ground and bend low; let us kneel in front of the LORD, the one who made us.
Sing a new song to the LORD! All the earth, sing to the LORD!
Raise your song to the LORD; bless His name. Day after day announce the good news of how He saves.
For the LORD is great and worthy of the highest praise; He must be revered above every god.
For every god the peoples serve is a mere nothing, an idol, but it was the LORD who made the heavens.
Give the LORD what is due, you families of the nations; give the LORD glory and might.
Give the LORD the glory His name deserves; bring a gift and enter His courts.
Bow low before the LORD in holy splendor; tremble in His presence, all the earth.
Tell the nations, “The LORD is King! The world stands firm; nothing can make it totter. He will judge the peoples fairly.”
in the presence of the LORD, for He is on the way, on the way to judge the earth. He will bring justice to the world and judge its peoples by His own faithfulness.
The LORD is King! Let the earth be glad, and the many far-off coastlands celebrate.
In the presence of the LORD the mountains soften like wax, in the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
Zion hears of it and is filled with joy; the towns of Judah celebrate Your acts of justice, LORD.
For it is You, LORD, who are Most High over the whole earth; You are lifted far above every god.
All who love the LORD, hate what is evil! He watches over the lives of His faithful people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.
Be glad in the LORD, you righteous people, and thank Him, calling His holy name to mind.
A psalm. Sing the LORD a new song because of the wonders He has done! By His own right hand and His holy arm He has won the victory.
The LORD has let His saving power be known; He has shown His justice openly for the nations to see.
Raise a glad shout to the LORD, all the earth; burst into joyful song and make music!
Make music for the LORD on the lyre, the lyre and the voice of song!
With trumpets and the ram’s horn sounding, lift a glad shout before the King, the LORD.
in the presence of the LORD, for He is on the way to judge the earth. He will govern the world rightly and the peoples with fairness.
The LORD is King; let the peoples shudder! He is seated on the cherubim as on a throne; let the earth shake!
In Zion the LORD is great; He towers over all the peoples.
Lift high the LORD our God, and bow low at His footstool. He is holy!
Among His priests were Moses and Aaron, and among those who called on His name was Samuel; they called out to the LORD, and He answered them.
LORD our God, it was You who answered them. To them You were a God who forgives, yet one who punished their wrongs.
Lift high the LORD our God, and bow low on His holy hill, because the LORD our God is holy.
A psalm for giving thanks. Raise a glad shout to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD and be glad doing it; come before Him with ringing cries of joy.
Be sure of this: the LORD is God! He is the one who made us, and we belong to Him. We are His people, the flock He pastures.
For the LORD is good; His loyal love has no end, and His faithfulness stands from one generation to the next.
Of David. A psalm. Loyal love and justice will be my song; LORD, I will make music for You.
Each morning I will make an end of the wicked in the land, and rid the city of the LORD of all who do wrong.
A prayer of someone in deep trouble, who is worn out and pours out a complaint before the LORD.
LORD, listen to my prayer; let my call for help reach You.
But You, LORD, are King on Your throne forever, and Your name lives on from one generation to the next.
Then nations will stand in awe of the name of the LORD, and every king on earth will tremble at Your glory.
For the LORD will build Zion again; He will be seen in all His glory.
that the LORD bent down from His holy heights and looked out from heaven over the earth,
so that people may make the LORD’s name known in Zion and sing His praise in Jerusalem,
when nations and kingdoms all gather to serve the LORD.
Of David. Bless the LORD, my soul; let all that is deep within me bless His holy name.
Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget all that He has done for you,
The LORD acts to set things right and gives justice to all who are crushed by others.
Tender and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger, rich in loyal love.
Just as a father feels for his children, the LORD feels tender love for all who fear Him.
But the loyal love of the LORD lasts from age to age on all who fear Him, while His righteousness reaches their children’s children,
The LORD has fixed His throne in heaven; His royal power reigns over all there is.
Bless the LORD, you angels of His, strong warriors who carry out what He says and listen for the sound of His word.
Bless the LORD, all His armies, His attendants who carry out what He wants.
Bless the LORD, all that He has made, everywhere under His rule. Bless the LORD, my soul.
Bless the LORD, my soul. LORD my God, how great You are! Splendor and majesty are the robes You wear,
The LORD’s trees have all the water they need, the cedars He planted on Lebanon,
LORD, how many and varied Your works are! You made them all with skill and wisdom; the earth is crowded with what You have made.
Let the glory of the LORD stand forever; let the LORD be glad in the things He has made,
All my life long I will sing to the LORD; while I am still here I will make music to my God.
Let what I ponder bring Him pleasure; as for me, my joy is in the LORD.
Let sinners be wiped out from the earth, and let no wicked people be left. Bless the LORD, my soul. Praise the LORD!
Thank the LORD and call on His name; tell every people what He has done.
Take pride in His holy name; let all who look to the LORD be glad at heart.
Turn to the LORD and to His strength; come into His presence again and again.
He, the LORD, is our God; His rulings reach the whole earth.
until the day his own words came true; the word of the LORD refined him.
Praise the LORD! Give the LORD thanks, for He is good; His loyal love lasts forever.
Who can put into words the mighty deeds of the LORD or tell out all the praise He deserves?
LORD, think of me when You favor Your people; come to me with Your saving help,
They turned jealous of Moses there in the camp, and of Aaron, the man set apart as holy to the LORD.
They muttered in their tents and would not heed the voice of the LORD.
They did not wipe out the peoples the LORD had told them to destroy,
So the LORD burned with anger against His people and came to loathe His own possession.
Rescue us, LORD our God, and bring us back together from among the nations, so that we may thank Your holy name and make our boast in praising You.
May the LORD, the God of Israel, be blessed from ages past to ages to come! And let all the people answer, “Amen!” Praise the LORD!
Give the LORD thanks, for He is good; His loyal love lasts forever.
Let those whom the LORD has bought back say it, those He freed from the grip of the enemy,
In their distress they called out to the LORD, and He rescued them from their troubles.
Let them give the LORD thanks for His loyal love and for the wonders He works for humankind.
In their distress they called out to the LORD, and He saved them from their troubles.
Let them give the LORD thanks for His loyal love and for the wonders He works for humankind.
In their distress they called out to the LORD, and He saved them from their troubles.
Let them give the LORD thanks for His loyal love and for the wonders He works for humankind.
they saw for themselves what the LORD does, His marvels out on the deep.
In their distress they called out to the LORD, and He brought them out from their troubles.
Let them give the LORD thanks for His loyal love and for the wonders He works for humankind.
Whoever is wise should mark these things and ponder the loyal love the LORD has shown again and again.
LORD, I will thank You before all peoples; I will sing Your praise in every nation.
May the LORD keep in mind the guilt of his ancestors, and may his mother’s sin never be erased.
May their sins stay always before the LORD, and may He wipe out all memory of them from the earth.
May this be how the LORD repays my accusers, those who speak evil against me.
LORD my God, come to my help! Save me, true to Your loyal love.
Make them see that this is Your own hand at work, that You, LORD, are the one who did it.
My lips will thank the LORD over and over; I will praise Him in the middle of the crowd.
Of David. A psalm. The LORD declares to my lord: “Take Your seat at My right hand, while I lay Your enemies beneath Your feet like a footstool.”
From Zion the LORD will stretch out the scepter of Your power: rule where Your enemies surround You!
The LORD has taken an oath and will not take it back: “You are a priest for all time, after the pattern of Melchizedek.”
Praise the LORD! I will thank the LORD with all my heart where upright people gather, in the whole assembly.
The deeds of the LORD are great; all who take pleasure in them search them out.
He has set up a memorial of His wonderful deeds; the LORD is gracious and tender in mercy.
The fear of the LORD is where wisdom begins; all who carry them out show good sense. His praise stands for all time.
Praise the LORD! How blessed are all who fear the LORD, whose great delight is in His commands!
Bad news does not frighten them; their hearts stand firm because they trust in the LORD.
Praise the LORD! You who serve the LORD, give praise; give praise to the name of the LORD!
May the name of the LORD be blessed from now on and for all time.
From where the sun comes up to where it goes down, the name of the LORD is worthy of praise.
The LORD is lifted high over every nation; His glory rises above the heavens.
Who can compare with the LORD our God, who has taken His seat on high,
Do not give us the glory, LORD, do not give it to us. Give it to Your name, for the sake of Your loyal love and Your faithfulness.
People of Israel, put your trust in the LORD! He is the one who helps them and shields them.
House of Aaron, put your trust in the LORD! He is the one who helps them and shields them.
You who fear the LORD, put your trust in the LORD! He is the one who helps them and shields them.
The LORD has kept us in mind, and He will bless: He will bless the people of Israel, He will bless the family of Aaron.
He will bless all who fear the LORD, the least of them and the greatest alike.
May the LORD make you grow in number, you and your children too.
You are blessed by the LORD, the one who made the heavens and the earth.
The heavens are the LORD’s own heavens; the earth He has handed over to humankind.
I love the LORD, for He listens when I call to Him and plead for mercy.
So I cried out to the LORD by name: Please, LORD, save my life!
The LORD shows grace and does what is right; our God is tender and merciful.
The LORD keeps watch over people with no defense; when I sank down helpless, He rescued me.
Come back to your rest, my soul, because the LORD has treated you with kindness.
I will go about my life in the presence of the LORD, here in the lands of the living.
What return can I make to the LORD for all His kindness to me?
I will lift high the cup of salvation and call out the name of the LORD.
What I promised the LORD I will carry out, with all His people looking on.
The death of His loyal ones weighs heavily in the sight of the LORD.
Yes, LORD, I belong to You as Your servant, a servant born to Your servant woman; You have untied the ropes that bound me.
I will bring You a thank offering and call on the LORD by name.
What I promised the LORD I will carry out, with all His people looking on,
in the courts of the LORD’s house, within you, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, every nation! Sing His praises, all you peoples!
For His loyal love toward us is overwhelming, and the LORD stays faithful forever. Praise the LORD!
Give the LORD thanks, for He is good; His loyal love lasts forever.
Let those who fear the LORD say it now: “His loyal love lasts forever.”
With the LORD for me, I have no fear. What can any human being do to me?
The LORD is with me as my helper, and I will see the downfall of those who hate me.
It is better to make the LORD your refuge than to rely on human beings.
It is better to make the LORD your refuge than to rely on princes.
All the nations closed in around me; in the name of the LORD I drove them back.
They closed in around me, yes, they closed in on every side; in the name of the LORD I drove them back.
They came at me like a swarm of bees, but they burned out like a fire in thornbushes; in the name of the LORD I drove them back.
You shoved me hard to make me fall, but the LORD came to my help.
The tents of the righteous ring with glad shouts of rescue: “The right hand of the LORD acts with power!
The right hand of the LORD is raised in triumph; the right hand of the LORD acts with power!”
This is the LORD’s gate; those who are righteous may pass through it.
This has come from the LORD; we look on it with wonder.
This is the day on which the LORD has acted; let us celebrate and be glad because of it.
LORD, we beg You, save us! LORD, we beg You, give us success!
Blessings on the one who comes in the LORD’s name! Out of the LORD’s house we speak a blessing over you.
The LORD is God; He has given us light. Tie the festival offering with ropes and bring it right to the altar’s horns.
Give the LORD thanks, for He is good; His loyal love lasts forever.
How blessed are those whose way of life is without fault, who walk by the instruction of the LORD!
All praise to You, LORD! Teach me Your statutes.
I have held tight to Your decrees, LORD; let me not be disgraced.
Show me, LORD, the path of Your statutes, and I will hold to it to the very end.
Let Your loyal love reach me, LORD, and Your rescue, as Your promise assured me.
I call to mind Your rulings from long ago, LORD, and I find comfort.
Through the night I think of Your name, LORD, and I hold to Your instruction.
The LORD is my share in life; I have said that I will hold to Your words.
LORD, Your loyal love fills all the earth; teach me Your statutes.
LORD, You have treated Your servant well, just as Your word said.
I know, LORD, that Your rulings are just, and that You brought me low because You are faithful.
LORD, Your word lasts forever; it is fixed in place in the heavens.
I am bowed down with trouble; LORD, give me life as Your word has said.
LORD, please accept the praise I freely offer, and teach me Your rulings.
The time has come for the LORD to act, for people have broken Your instruction.
LORD, You are just in all You do, and Your rulings are straight and true.
With my whole heart I call to You; LORD, answer me! I will keep Your statutes.
Hear my voice because of Your loyal love; LORD, give me life in keeping with Your justice.
But You, LORD, are close at hand, and every one of Your commands is truth.
Great is Your compassion, LORD; give me life as Your rulings direct.
Look how much I love Your precepts! LORD, give me life because of Your loyal love.
LORD, I look in hope for Your salvation, and I carry out Your commands.
LORD, let my cry come close to You; give me understanding as Your word has said.
LORD, I yearn for You to save me, and Your instruction is my joy.
A song of ascents. When I was in trouble I cried out to the LORD, and He gave me an answer.
LORD, rescue me from people whose lips tell lies, whose tongues deceive.
My help is from the LORD, the one who made heaven and earth.
The LORD is the one who guards you; The LORD is shade at your right side.
The LORD will guard you against every harm; He will guard your very life.
The LORD will guard you as you set out and as you return, from now on and for all time.
A song of ascents. Of David. I was full of joy when they said to me, “Come, let us set out for the house of the LORD!”
where the tribes make their way up, the tribes that belong to the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
Because the house of the LORD our God is here, I will work for what is good for you.
Servants watch the hand of their master, and a servant woman watches the hand of the woman she serves. In the same way we keep our eyes on the LORD our God, waiting for Him to show us favor.
Show us favor, LORD, show us favor, for we have swallowed more contempt than we can bear.
A song of ascents. Of David. Let Israel say it now: if the LORD had not stood with us,
if the LORD had not stood with us when people rose up against us,
Blessed be the LORD! He did not give us up to be torn apart by their teeth.
We find our help in the name of the LORD, the one who made heaven and earth.
A song of ascents. Whoever trusts in the LORD is like Mount Zion: nothing can shake it; it stays in place forever.
Mountains ring Jerusalem all around, and the LORD is all around His people, from now on and forever.
LORD, be good to good people, to all whose hearts are upright.
But as for people who wander off onto crooked paths, the LORD will drive them away with all who do evil. May Israel have peace!
A song of ascents. When the LORD turned things around for Zion, we were like people in a dream.
Then we laughed and laughed, and our tongues rang with joyful shouts. Then people among the nations said, “What great things the LORD has done for them!”
Great things indeed the LORD has done for us, and how glad we were!
LORD, restore us again, as the rains bring the dry streams of the Negev back to life.
A song of ascents. Of Solomon. If the LORD does not build the house, the work of its builders comes to nothing. If the LORD does not guard the city, the watchman’s sleepless night is wasted.
Children are a gift handed down from the LORD; the fruit of the womb is a reward.
A song of ascents. How blessed is everyone who fears the LORD and lives the way He directs!
See how the one who fears the LORD will be blessed!
May the LORD send you blessing from Zion, and may you look on Jerusalem’s good fortune as long as you live,
The LORD does what is right: He has cut through the ropes of the wicked.
and no one passing by calls out, “The LORD’s blessing be on you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!”
A song of ascents. From the deep waters I call to You, LORD.
I am waiting for the LORD; with all that I am I wait, and I hope in what He has promised.
Israel, wait in hope for the LORD! For loyal love is found with the LORD, and with Him is redemption in full measure.
A song of ascents. Of David. LORD, there is no pride in my heart, no arrogance in my eyes. I do not go after things too great for me, or too wonderful for me to grasp.
Israel, wait in hope for the LORD, from now on and forever.
A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all the hardship he went through,
how he made an oath to the LORD and a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob,
until I have found the LORD a place to stay, a home for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
Rise up, LORD! Come to the place where You will rest, You and the ark of Your might.
The LORD has given David His word on oath, a true word He will never take back: “I will place a child of your own body on your throne.
For the LORD chose Zion; He longed to make it His home.
like the dew of Hermon coming down on the hills of Zion. For it is there that the LORD has decreed the blessing, life without end.
A song of ascents. Now bless the LORD, every servant of the LORD who stands night after night in the house of the LORD!
Raise your hands toward the sanctuary, and bless the LORD!
From Zion may the LORD, the one who made heaven and earth, bless you.
Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD; give Him praise, you servants of the LORD,
who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courtyards of the house of our God.
Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; make music to His name, for that is a delight.
I am sure of it: the LORD is great, and our Lord stands above all gods.
Whatever the LORD chooses to do, He does it, in the heavens, on the earth, in the seas and in all the ocean depths.
LORD, Your name will last forever; LORD, people will remember You in every generation.
For the LORD will take up the cause of His people and show pity to His servants.
People of Israel, bless the LORD! Family of Aaron, bless the LORD!
Family of Levi, bless the LORD! All who fear the LORD, bless the LORD!
May the LORD be blessed from Zion, He who lives in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
Give the LORD thanks, for He is good; His loyal love lasts forever.
How could we sing the LORD’s song in a land of strangers?
LORD, hold the day of Jerusalem’s fall against the Edomites, who shouted, “Strip it, strip it bare, right down to its foundations!”
LORD, every king on earth will give You thanks, because they have heard the words You spoke.
They will sing of the LORD’s ways, because the glory of the LORD is so great.
The LORD is high, yet He looks upon those who are low; the proud He knows from a distance.
The LORD will carry out His plan for me. LORD, Your loyal love lasts forever; do not let go of what Your hands have made.
For the music director. Of David. A psalm. LORD, You have looked deep into me, and You know me.
No word is yet on my tongue, and already, LORD, You know the whole of it.
LORD, how could I not hate those who hate You, or feel disgust for those who rise up against You?
LORD, rescue me from evil people; keep me safe from those who do violence,
LORD, guard me from the clutches of the wicked; shield me from violent people who are scheming to make me fall.
I have told the LORD, “You are my God.” Turn Your ear, LORD, to the sound of my pleading.
LORD, do not give the wicked what they crave; do not let their scheme succeed, or they will grow proud. Selah
I know that the LORD will take up the case of the oppressed and see that the needy get justice.
A psalm of David. LORD, I am calling to You; come to me quickly. Hear my voice as I cry out to You.

I cry out to You, LORD. I say, “You are my shelter, all I have in the land of the living.”
A psalm of David. LORD, hear my prayer; listen as I plead for mercy. Answer me in Your faithfulness and in Your righteousness.
LORD, hurry and answer me; my spirit is failing. Do not keep Your face hidden from me, or I will become one of those who sink into the pit.
Snatch me from my enemies, LORD; I have taken cover with You.
LORD, for the honor of Your name, keep me alive; in Your righteousness lead me out of my distress.
Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my rock, the one who teaches my hands to fight and my fingers to make war.

How blessed the people who live like this! How blessed the people who have the LORD as their God!
The LORD is great, worthy of the highest praise, and there is no searching out the depth of His greatness.
The LORD is full of grace and compassion, slow to anger and great in loyal love.
The LORD is good to everyone; His compassion covers all that He has made.
LORD, all Your works will thank You, and Your faithful people will bless You.
The LORD holds up everyone who stumbles and raises all who are bent low.
In all His ways the LORD is righteous; in all His deeds He is faithful.
The LORD is close to everyone who calls to Him, to all who call to Him sincerely.
The LORD guards everyone who loves Him, but He will wipe out all the wicked.
With my own mouth I will speak praise to the LORD; may all creatures bless His holy name for all time to come.
Praise the LORD! My soul, praise the LORD!
All my life I will praise the LORD; as long as I exist I will make music for my God.
How blessed are those who have the God of Jacob to help them, whose hope rests on the LORD their God!
who brings justice to the oppressed and provides bread for the hungry. The LORD releases the prisoners;

May they praise the name of the LORD; at His command they came into being.
From the earth below, praise the LORD, sea monsters and all the watery deeps,
Let them all bring praise to the name of the LORD, since His name alone is lifted high; His splendor towers over earth and sky.
Praise the LORD! Sing a new song to the LORD; sing His praise where the faithful gather!
For the LORD is pleased with His people; He dresses the humble in the beauty of salvation.
