Job 25

Translated from the Hebrew of the Westminster Leningrad Codex. Tap a verse to see why it reads as it does. Tap a small letter to read its footnote.

How can a mortal be righteous before God?

1Then Bildad the Shuhite answered: 2Rule and dread belong to God; \q he makes peace in his high places. 3Can his armies be counted? \q On whom does his light not rise? 4How then can a mortal be righteous before God? \q How can one born of a woman be pure? 5Look, even the moon is not bright, \q and the stars are not pure in his sight; 6How much less a mortal, who is a maggot, \q a human being, who is a worm!
