Her foes have become her masters, her enemies live at ease, for the LORD has brought grief on her for her many rebellions; her little ones have gone into captivity ahead of the foe.
Her skirts are stained with her uncleanness; she gave no thought to where she was heading; her fall has been beyond belief, and there is no one to comfort her. Look, LORD, at my misery, for the enemy has triumphed!
All her people groan as they search for bread; they trade their treasures for food to stay alive. Look, LORD, and take notice, for I am treated as worthless.

The LORD resolved to tear down the wall of Daughter Zion; He stretched out the measuring line and did not hold back His hand from destroying; He made rampart and wall lament; together they lie in ruins.
Her gates have sunk into the ground; He has wrecked and shattered her bars. Her king and her officials are among the nations; instruction is no more, and her prophets find no vision from the LORD.
The LORD has done what He purposed; He has fulfilled His word, which He decreed long ago; He has thrown down without pity; He has let the enemy gloat over you and raised up the strength of your foes.
Look, LORD, and take note: whom have You ever dealt with like this? Must women eat their own offspring, the little ones they cared for? Must priest and prophet be slain in the Lord’s sanctuary?
As if calling a festival crowd, You summoned terrors against me from every side; on the day of the LORD’s anger no one escaped and no one survived; the children I nursed and brought up, my enemy has wiped out.
So I said, “My strength is gone, and so is all I hoped for from the LORD.”
It is by the LORD’s loyal love that we have not been wiped out, for His mercies have not failed.
“The LORD is my portion,” I tell myself, “and so I will wait for Him in hope.”
The LORD is good to all who wait in hope for Him, to anyone who seeks Him.
It is good to wait in silence for the LORD’s salvation.
Let us look hard at the way we live and test it, and turn back to the LORD.
until the LORD looks down and sees from heaven.
I called on Your name, LORD, from the bottom of the pit.
LORD, You have seen how I have been wronged; give judgment in my case!
You have heard their insults, LORD, all their schemes against me,
Pay them back, LORD, as they deserve, for what their hands have done.
Chase them down in anger and destroy them from beneath the heavens of the LORD.
The LORD has carried His fury through to the end; He has poured out His burning anger. He lit a fire in Zion, and it devoured her to her foundations.
The LORD’s own presence has scattered them; He will no longer look on them with care. No respect was shown to the priests, no kindness to the elders.
The very breath of our life, the LORD’s anointed, was caught in their traps, the one of whom we had said, “Under his protection we will live among the nations.”
Remember, LORD, what has come upon us; look, and see how we are put to shame.
You, LORD, are enthroned forever; Your throne stands through every generation.
Turn us back to Yourself, LORD, so that we may return; make our days new, as they were long ago,
