They rejected His statutes, the covenant He had made with their ancestors, and the decrees by which He had warned them. They went after worthless idols and became worthless themselves. They followed the nations around them, although the LORD had commanded them not to do as those nations did.

  126. 2 Царей 17:16

They abandoned every commandment of the LORD their God and made themselves cast images, two calves. They made an Asherah pole, bowed down to all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

  127. 2 Царей 17:17

They made their sons and daughters pass through the fire, practiced divination and read omens, and sold themselves to do what was evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.

  128. 2 Царей 17:18

So the LORD was very angry with Israel and removed them from His presence. None was left but the tribe of Judah alone.

  129. 2 Царей 17:19

Even Judah failed to keep the commandments of the LORD their God. They walked in the statutes that Israel had made.

  130. 2 Царей 17:20

So the LORD rejected all Israel’s descendants. He afflicted them and handed them over to plunderers, until He had thrown them out of His presence.

  131. 2 Царей 17:21

When He had torn Israel from David’s house, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king. Jeroboam drove Israel away from following the LORD and led them to commit a great sin.

  132. 2 Царей 17:23

until the LORD removed Israel from His presence, as He had said through all His servants the prophets. So Israel went into exile from its own land to Assyria, to this day.

  133. 2 Царей 17:25

When they first lived there they did not fear the LORD, so the LORD sent lions among them, and the lions killed some of them.

  134. 2 Царей 17:28

So one of the priests who had been carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel, and he taught them how they should fear the LORD.

  135. 2 Царей 17:32

They feared the LORD, but they also appointed priests of the high places from all sorts of their own people, who offered sacrifices for them in the shrines of the high places.

  136. 2 Царей 17:33

They feared the LORD, and they served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations from which they had been carried away.

  137. 2 Царей 17:34

To this day they keep to their former customs. They do not truly fear the LORD, and they do not follow their statutes and rulings, or the law and the commandment that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, the man He named Israel.

  138. 2 Царей 17:35

The LORD had made a covenant with them and commanded them, “Do not fear other gods, or bow down to them, or serve them, or sacrifice to them,

  139. 2 Царей 17:36

but fear the LORD, who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. Bow down to Him, and sacrifice to Him.

  140. 2 Царей 17:39

Fear the LORD your God instead, and He will rescue you from the power of all your enemies.”

  141. 2 Царей 17:41

So these nations feared the LORD and also served their idols. Their children and their grandchildren have done as their ancestors did, to this day.

  142. 2 Царей 18:3

He did what was right in the sight of the LORD, in every way as his ancestor David had done.

  143. 2 Царей 18:5

He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. Among all the kings of Judah there was no one like him, either after him or among those who were before him.

  144. 2 Царей 18:6

He held fast to the LORD and did not turn away from following Him. He kept the commandments the LORD had given to Moses.

  145. 2 Царей 18:7

The LORD was with him, and he succeeded in everything he set out to do. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and would not serve him.

  146. 2 Царей 18:12

This happened because they did not obey the voice of the LORD their God, but broke His covenant, everything Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded. They would neither listen nor do it.

  147. 2 Царей 18:15

Hezekiah handed over to him all the silver to be found in the LORD’s house and in the treasuries of the king’s palace.

  148. 2 Царей 18:16

At that time Hezekiah stripped the gold from the doors of the LORD’s temple and from the doorposts that he, Hezekiah king of Judah, had covered with it, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

  149. 2 Царей 18:22

Or if you tell me, “Our trust is in the LORD our God,” did Hezekiah not get rid of His high places and His altars? Did he not tell Judah and Jerusalem, “It is before this altar in Jerusalem that you must bow down”?

  150. 2 Царей 18:25

Now, was it apart from the LORD that I came up against this place to ruin it? It was the LORD who said to me, “Go up against this land and ruin it.”’”

  151. 2 Царей 18:30

And do not let Hezekiah lead you to rely on the LORD when he tells you, “The LORD is sure to rescue us. The king of Assyria will never be given this city.”’

  152. 2 Царей 18:32

until I come to move you to a country like your own, a country of grain and fresh wine, of bread and vineyards, of olive oil and honey. Then you will live and not die. Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is leading you astray when he says, “The LORD will rescue us.”

  153. 2 Царей 18:35

Among all the gods of the lands, which ones have rescued their land from my hand, that the LORD should rescue Jerusalem from me?’”

  154. 2 Царей 19:1

As soon as King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, wrapped himself in sackcloth, and entered the house of the LORD.

  155. 2 Царей 19:4

Perhaps the LORD your God will hear everything the chief officer said when his master the king of Assyria sent him to insult the living God, and will call him to account for the words the LORD your God has heard. Lift up a prayer, then, for the remnant that is still here.”

  156. 2 Царей 19:6

Isaiah said to them, “Say to your master, ‘The LORD says this: Do not be frightened by what you have heard, the words with which the king of Assyria’s lackeys have reviled Me.

  157. 2 Царей 19:14

Hezekiah took the letter from the messengers’ hand and read it through. He went up to the house of the LORD and opened it out in the presence of the LORD.

  158. 2 Царей 19:15

Then Hezekiah prayed before the LORD: “LORD, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim: You, and no one else, are God of every kingdom on earth. It was You who made the heavens and the earth.

  159. 2 Царей 19:16

Turn Your ear, LORD, and listen; open Your eyes, LORD, and look. Hear the words of Sennacherib, who has sent his envoy to insult the living God.

  160. 2 Царей 19:17

It is true, LORD, that the kings of Assyria have devastated the nations and their lands,

  161. 2 Царей 19:19

So now, LORD our God, please rescue us from his power, so that every kingdom on earth will know that You, LORD, alone are God.”

  162. 2 Царей 19:20

Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent word to Hezekiah: “The LORD, the God of Israel, says this: I have heard your prayer to Me about Sennacherib king of Assyria.

  163. 2 Царей 19:21

This is the word the LORD has spoken against him: The virgin, Daughter Zion, looks down on you and laughs at you; Daughter Jerusalem shakes her head at your back.

  164. 2 Царей 19:31

For a remnant will go out from Jerusalem, and from Mount Zion those who have escaped. The burning zeal of the LORD of Armies will make this happen.

  165. 2 Царей 19:32

Therefore the LORD says this about the king of Assyria: He will never set foot in this city. He will not fire a single arrow into it, nor face it with a shield, nor pile up an earthen ramp against its walls.

  166. 2 Царей 19:33

The road that brought him here will take him back again. This city he will not enter, declares the LORD.

  167. 2 Царей 19:35

That night the angel of the LORD went out into the Assyrian camp and struck down 185,000. At dawn, when people got up, they found them all lying dead.

  168. 2 Царей 20:1

In those days Hezekiah fell ill and was close to death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came to him and said, “The LORD says this: Give final instructions to your household, for you are dying and will not live.”

  169. 2 Царей 20:2

Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall and prayed to the LORD:

  170. 2 Царей 20:3

“Please, LORD, remember how I have lived before You faithfully and with an undivided heart, doing what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept loudly.

  171. 2 Царей 20:4

Isaiah had not yet left the middle courtyard when the word of the LORD came to him:

  172. 2 Царей 20:5

“Go back and say to Hezekiah, the ruler of My people, ‘The LORD, the God of your ancestor David, says this: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. I am about to heal you, and on the third day you will go up to the house of the LORD.

  173. 2 Царей 20:8

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What sign will there be that the LORD is going to heal me, and that on the third day I will go up to the house of the LORD?”

  174. 2 Царей 20:9

Isaiah answered, “This will be your sign from the LORD that the LORD will carry out what He has said: Should the shadow go forward ten steps, or should it go back ten steps?”

  175. 2 Царей 20:11

Then the prophet Isaiah called out to the LORD, and He made the shadow go back ten steps, back up the steps of Ahaz that it had gone down.

  176. 2 Царей 20:16

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Listen to the word of the LORD:

  177. 2 Царей 20:17

Look, a time is coming when all that is in your palace, everything your ancestors have laid up until today, will be hauled off to Babylon. Not one thing will remain, says the LORD.

  178. 2 Царей 20:19

Hezekiah answered Isaiah, “This word of the LORD that you have brought is good.” He was thinking, “Is it not good, if there will be peace and stability as long as I live?”

  179. 2 Царей 21:2

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, following the detestable practices of the nations that the LORD had driven out ahead of the Israelites.

  180. 2 Царей 21:4

He built altars in the house of the LORD, the house about which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem I will put My name.”

  181. 2 Царей 21:5

He built altars to all the host of heaven in the two courtyards of the house of the LORD.

  182. 2 Царей 21:6

He made his son pass through the fire, practiced fortune-telling and read omens, and consulted a medium and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.

  183. 2 Царей 21:7

He placed the carved Asherah image he had made in the house about which the LORD had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, the city I chose from among all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever.

  184. 2 Царей 21:9

But they did not listen. Manasseh led them astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the LORD had destroyed ahead of the Israelites.

  185. 2 Царей 21:10

The LORD spoke through His servants the prophets, saying,

  186. 2 Царей 21:12

therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says this: Look, I am about to bring such disaster on Jerusalem and Judah that it will make both ears of all who hear of it tingle.

  187. 2 Царей 21:16

Manasseh also shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem with it from one end to the other. This was besides the sin he led Judah into, so that they did what was evil in the sight of the LORD.

  188. 2 Царей 21:20

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done.

  189. 2 Царей 21:22

He abandoned the LORD, the God of his ancestors, and did not walk in the way of the LORD.

  190. 2 Царей 22:2

He did what was right in the sight of the LORD and walked in all the way of his ancestor David. He did not turn aside to the right or to the left.

  191. 2 Царей 22:3

In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent the secretary Shaphan son of Azaliah, son of Meshullam, to the house of the LORD, saying,

  192. 2 Царей 22:4

“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest and have him count up the money brought into the house of the LORD, the money the doorkeepers have taken in from the people,

  193. 2 Царей 22:5

and have them hand it to the men doing the work, who have been put in charge of the house of the LORD. Let these pay it to the workmen in the house of the LORD who are repairing the damage to the house,

  194. 2 Царей 22:8

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “In the house of the LORD I have found the book of the law.” Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

  195. 2 Царей 22:9

Shaphan the secretary went to the king and reported to him, “Your officials have emptied out the money found in the house and handed it over to the men doing the work, who have been put in charge of the house of the LORD.”

  196. 2 Царей 22:13

“Go and ask the LORD on my behalf, and on behalf of the people and all Judah, about the words of this book that has been found. The LORD’s anger burns hot against us, because our ancestors did not listen to the words of this book or do all that it lays down for us.”

  197. 2 Царей 22:15

She said to them, “The LORD, the God of Israel, says this: Tell the man who sent you to me,

  198. 2 Царей 22:16

‘The LORD says this: I am about to bring disaster on this place and on those who live in it, all the words in the book the king of Judah has read,

  199. 2 Царей 22:18

But to the king of Judah, who sent you to ask the LORD, say this: ‘The LORD, the God of Israel, says this: As for the words you have heard,

  200. 2 Царей 22:19

because your heart was tender, and when you heard what I spoke against this place and its people, that they would become a horror and a curse, you humbled yourself before the LORD; and because you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I in turn have heard you, declares the LORD.

  201. 2 Царей 23:2

The king went up to the house of the LORD, and with him went all the people of Judah and all who lived in Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets, and all the people, from the least to the greatest. In their hearing he read out all the words of the book of the covenant, which had been found in the house of the LORD.

  202. 2 Царей 23:3

The king stood by the pillar and made the covenant in the presence of the LORD: to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments, His decrees and His statutes with all his heart and all his being, and so to carry out the words of this covenant written in this book. And all the people committed themselves to the covenant.

  203. 2 Царей 23:4

The king ordered Hilkiah the high priest, the priests next in rank and the keepers of the threshold to bring out of the temple of the LORD all the objects made for Baal, for Asherah and for all the host of heaven. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron Valley and carried their ashes to Bethel.

  204. 2 Царей 23:6

He took the Asherah pole out of the house of the LORD to the Kidron Valley outside Jerusalem. He burned it there in the Kidron Valley, ground it to dust and threw the dust on the graves of the common people.

  205. 2 Царей 23:7

He tore down the quarters of the male shrine prostitutes in the house of the LORD, where the women wove coverings for Asherah.

  206. 2 Царей 23:9

The priests of the high places did not serve at the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they ate unleavened bread with their fellow priests.

  207. 2 Царей 23:11

He removed the horses the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun from the entrance to the house of the LORD, by the room of Nathan-melech the official, which was in the precincts. And he burned up the chariots of the sun.

  208. 2 Царей 23:12

The king pulled down the altars that the kings of Judah had made on the roof of the upper room of Ahaz, and the altars Manasseh had built in the two courts of the house of the LORD. He broke them in pieces and removed them from there, and he threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.

  209. 2 Царей 23:16

As Josiah turned around, he saw the tombs there on the hillside, and he sent men to take the bones out of the tombs. He burned them on the altar and so defiled it, in keeping with the word of the LORD that the man of God had cried out when he foretold these things.

  210. 2 Царей 23:21

The king commanded all the people, “Keep the Passover to the LORD your God in the way that is written in this book of the covenant.”

  211. 2 Царей 23:23

But this Passover was kept to the LORD in Jerusalem in the eighteenth year of King Josiah.

  212. 2 Царей 23:24

Josiah also purged the mediums and the spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the detestable things to be seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. He did this so as to carry out the words of the law, as they were written in the book Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the house of the LORD.

  213. 2 Царей 23:25

Before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with his whole heart, with his whole being, and with all his strength, in keeping with all the law of Moses; and after him no one like him arose.

  214. 2 Царей 23:26

Even so, the LORD did not turn away from the fierceness of His great anger, which burned against Judah because of all the ways Manasseh had provoked Him.

  215. 2 Царей 23:27

The LORD said, “I will remove Judah from My sight too, as I removed Israel. I will reject this city I chose, Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, ‘My name will be there.’”

  216. 2 Царей 23:32

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his ancestors had done.

  217. 2 Царей 23:37

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his ancestors had done.

  218. 2 Царей 24:2

The LORD sent raiding bands of Chaldeans, Arameans, Moabites and Ammonites against him. He sent them against Judah to destroy it, in keeping with the word the LORD had spoken through His servants the prophets.

  219. 2 Царей 24:3

Surely it was at the command of the LORD that this came upon Judah, to put them away from His presence because of Manasseh’s sins, all that he had done,

  220. 2 Царей 24:4

and also because of the innocent blood he had shed. He had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD was not willing to forgive.

  221. 2 Царей 24:9

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, just as his father had done.

  222. 2 Царей 24:13

He carried off from there all the treasures of the house of the LORD and those of the king’s palace, and he cut up all the gold vessels that Solomon king of Israel had made for the temple of the LORD, just as the LORD had said.

  223. 2 Царей 24:19

He did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done.

  224. 2 Царей 24:20

It was because of the anger of the LORD that all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He cast them out of His presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

  225. 2 Царей 25:9

He burned the house of the LORD, the king’s palace and all the houses of Jerusalem; every important house he burned down.

  226. 2 Царей 25:13

The Chaldeans broke up the bronze pillars that were in the house of the LORD, the stands, and the bronze Sea that was in the house of the LORD, and they hauled the metal off to Babylon.

  227. 2 Царей 25:16

As for the two pillars, the one Sea and the stands Solomon made for the house of the LORD, the bronze of all these things was more than could be weighed.
