Do not keep silent, God

1A song. A psalm of Asaph. 2God, do not rest! \q Do not keep silent, and do not sit idle, God! 3Look, your enemies are in an uproar; \q those who hate you hold their heads high. 4They are plotting slyly against your people \q and conspiring against those you treasure. 5They say, “Come, let us wipe them out so they are no longer a nation; \q let no one ever again remember the name of Israel.” 6They have agreed together with one mind; \q they are making a treaty against you, 7Edom’s tent-dwellers, the Ishmaelites, \q Moab and the Hagrites, 8Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, \q Philistia and the people who live in Tyre. 9Assyria too has joined them; \q they lend their strength to the descendants of Lot. Selah 10Treat them the way you treated Midian, \q the way you treated Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon valley, 11who were wiped out at Endor \q and became manure on the ground. 12Deal with their nobles as with Oreb and Zeeb, \q and with all their chiefs as with Zebah and Zalmunna, 13who said, \q “Let us take God’s pasturelands as our own.” 14My God, make them like a tumbleweed spinning away, \q like husks driven by the wind. 15As a fire eats through a forest, \q as flames set the mountainsides alight, 16so hunt them down with your storm \q and fill them with terror by your gale. 17Load their faces with disgrace, \q so that they come seeking your name, LORD. 18May they be shamed and terrified for all time; \q may they be disgraced and come to ruin, 19and let them come to know that your name is the LORD, \q that only you are Most High over the whole earth.
