Against Ammon

¹The word of the LORD came to me: ²Son of man, turn to face the Ammonites and prophesy against them, ³and say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD! The Lord GOD says this: Because you cried “Aha!” over my sanctuary when it was desecrated, over the land of Israel when it was laid waste, and over the people of Judah when they went into exile, ⁴therefore I am going to hand you over to the people of the east as their possession. They will set up their camps among you and pitch their tents in your land; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk. ⁵I will turn Rabbah into a pasture for camels and the land of Ammon into a fold for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

Ammon’s scorn repaid

⁶For the Lord GOD says this: Because you clapped your hands and stamped your feet and gloated with all the scorn in your heart over the land of Israel, ⁷therefore I have stretched out my hand against you. I will hand you over as plunder to the nations. I will cut you off from among the peoples and wipe you out from among the lands. I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

Against Moab

⁸The Lord GOD says this: Because Moab and Seir said, “See, the people of Judah are just like all the other nations,” ⁹therefore I am going to lay bare the flank of Moab, stripping it of its cities, the cities on its frontier, the pride of the land: Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon and Kiriathaim. ¹⁰I will give it to the people of the east, along with the Ammonites, as their possession, so that the Ammonites will be remembered no more among the nations. ¹¹I will carry out judgments on Moab. Then they will know that I am the LORD.

Against Edom

¹²The Lord GOD says this: Because Edom took revenge on the people of Judah and became deeply guilty by avenging itself on them, ¹³therefore the Lord GOD says this: I will stretch out my hand against Edom and wipe out both its people and its animals. I will make it a wasteland; from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword. ¹⁴I will take my vengeance on Edom through my people Israel. They will deal with Edom as my anger and my wrath demand, and they will know what my vengeance is, declares the Lord GOD.

Against the Philistines

¹⁵The Lord GOD says this: Because the Philistines acted in revenge, taking vengeance with scorn in their hearts and seeking to destroy Judah out of their age-old hatred, ¹⁶therefore the Lord GOD says this: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines. I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy those who are left along the seacoast. ¹⁷I will carry out great acts of vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I take my vengeance on them.
