Seven women and one man
1On that day seven women will seize one man and plead, \q “We will pay for our own food and our own clothing. \q Just let us bear your name, and so remove our shame.”
Beauty and glory for the survivors
2On that day the branch of the LORD will become a thing of beauty and glory, and the fruit of the land will be the boast and the splendor of Israel’s survivors.a 3Then those still left in Zion, those remaining in Jerusalem, will be named holy: everyone in Jerusalem who is written down for life. 4This will be when the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and rinsed the bloodguilt of Jerusalem out of her, by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of burning.b 5Then over the whole site of Mount Zion and over those who gather there, the LORD will create a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a blazing fire by night. Above all the glory a canopy will be spread.c 6There will be a booth to give shade from the daytime heat, a place of safety and cover when storm and rain beat down.
