The tabernacle curtains
1For the tabernacle you are to make ten curtains of fine twisted linen and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn. Have cherubim worked into them, the design of a skilled craftsman. 2Each curtain is to be about 42 feet long and about 6 feet wide; all the curtains are to have one measure. 3Five of the curtains are to be joined to one another, and the other five joined to one another as well. 4Put loops of blue yarn on the outer edge of the last curtain in the first set. Put them likewise on the edge of the outermost curtain of the second set. 5Put fifty loops on the one curtain and fifty on the end of the curtain in the second set, so that the loops line up with each other. 6Make fifty clasps of gold and join the two sets of curtains with them, one to the other. Then the tabernacle will be one whole.
The tent of goats’ hair
7Then make eleven curtains of goats’ hair to be a tent over the tabernacle. 8Each curtain is to be about 45 feet long and about 6 feet wide; all eleven are to have one measure. 9Join five curtains together by themselves, and six by themselves. The sixth curtain is to be folded over double across the front of the tent. 10On the outer edge of the last curtain in the first set put fifty loops, and fifty more on the edge of the joining curtain in the second set. 11Make fifty clasps of bronze. Fit the clasps into the loops and join the tent together, so that it becomes one whole. 12Half of a curtain will be left over from the curtains of the tent. Let that surplus hang down over the rear of the tabernacle. 13In length the tent curtains will be longer by about 18 inches at each end. Let this surplus hang down over both sides of the tabernacle and cover it. 14Make a covering for the tent out of rams’ skins dyed red, and over that a covering of fine leather.a
The frames
15For the tabernacle make frames out of acacia wood, to stand upright.b 16Make every frame about 15 feet high and about 2 1/4 feet wide. 17Every frame will have two tenons, joined one to the other. Do this for every frame of the tabernacle. 18The south side of the tabernacle is to have twenty frames. 19Under the twenty frames set forty bases of silver, two beneath every frame to receive its two tenons. 20For the other side of the tabernacle, the north side, make twenty frames 21with their forty silver bases, two under each frame. 22For the back of the tabernacle, the west end, make six frames. 23Two more frames are for the back corners of the tabernacle. 24They are to be double from the bottom and joined together at the top in a single ring. Both corner frames are to be made this way; they will form the two corners.c 25The back wall will then have eight frames standing on sixteen silver bases, a pair beneath every frame. 26You are also to make crossbars from acacia wood, five of them for the frames along one side of the tabernacle, 27five for the frames of its other side, and five for the frames of the rear wall facing west. 28The middle crossbar, set halfway up the frames, is to reach all the way from one end to the other.d 29Overlay the frames with gold, and make their rings of gold as holders for the crossbars; the crossbars too you are to overlay with gold. 30Erect the tabernacle following the design that was shown to you on the mountain.
The inner curtain and the screen
31Make the inner curtain of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen. It is to be the work of a skilled craftsman, with cherubim worked into its design. 32Hang it from four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold. Their hooks are to be of gold, and they will stand on four bases of silver. 33Put the curtain in place beneath the clasps, and bring the ark of the testimony there, inside the curtain. For you it will mark the division between the holy place and the most holy place. 34Place the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the most holy place.e 35Set the table outside the curtain, and the lampstand opposite the table, on the south side of the tabernacle. The table you are to put on the north side. 36Make a screen for the doorway of the tent from blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen, worked in colors by an embroiderer. 37Make five pillars of acacia wood for the screen and overlay them with gold; their hooks are to be gold. Cast five bases of bronze for them as well.
