Making the priestly garments

1Out of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, finely woven garments were made for service in the holy place. Aaron’s holy garments were made as well, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

2Bezalel made the ephod from gold, blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine twisted linen. 3Gold was beaten into thin plates and cut into threads, which were worked in among the blue yarn, the purple, the scarlet and the fine linen with a designer’s skill. 4They made shoulder pieces for the ephod to join it together; it was fastened at its two ends. 5The woven band that went around it to fasten it was made the same way, in one piece with the ephod, of gold, of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of fine twisted linen, as the LORD had commanded Moses. 6They prepared the onyx stones, mounted them in settings of gold filigree, and engraved them, as a seal is engraved, with the names of the sons of Israel. 7Bezalel set them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of remembrance for the sons of Israel, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Making the breastpiece

8He made the breastpiece with a designer’s skill, worked like the ephod, of gold, of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of fine twisted linen. 9It was square. They made the breastpiece folded double, about 9 inches long and about 9 inches wide when doubled. 10They set four rows of stones on it. In the first row were a carnelian, a topaz and a beryl; 11in the second row, a turquoise, a sapphire and an emerald; 12in the third row, a jacinth, an agate and an amethyst; 13and in the fourth row, a chrysolite, an onyx and a jasper. They were mounted in gold filigree settings. 14The stones bore the names of the sons of Israel, twelve of them to match their names. Each was engraved like a seal with its own name, for the twelve tribes. 15On the breastpiece they made chains of pure gold, twisted like cords. 16They also made a pair of gold filigree settings and a pair of gold rings; the rings they put on two corners of the breastpiece. 17They tied the two gold cords into the two rings at the corners of the breastpiece. 18The remaining ends of the cords went to the two settings, which they fixed to the front of the ephod on its shoulder pieces. 19They made two gold rings and set them at the two lower ends of the breastpiece, on its inner edge, the edge facing the ephod. 20They made another two gold rings and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, low on its front, near where it is joined, above the woven band of the ephod. 21They bound the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it lay on the woven band of the ephod and did not come away from it, as the LORD had commanded Moses. 22Bezalel made the robe that goes under the ephod, a weaver’s work, all of blue. 23The opening of the robe was in the middle, like the neck of a coat of armor, with a hem all around it so that it would not rip. 24On the hem of the robe they made pomegranates of twisted blue, purple and scarlet yarn. 25They made bells of pure gold too, and put the bells between the pomegranates all the way around the hem of the robe. 26Bell and pomegranate, bell and pomegranate, they went all around the hem of the robe, which was worn for ministering, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

27They made tunics of fine linen, a weaver’s work, for Aaron and his sons, 28the turban of fine linen, the decorative caps of fine linen, and the linen undergarments of fine twisted linen, 29and the sash of fine twisted linen with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, worked in colors by an embroiderer, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

30From pure gold they made the plate that is the holy crown, and they engraved it, as a seal is engraved, with the words “Holy to the LORD.” 31To it they attached a cord of blue so that it could be fixed high on the turban, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

The work is finished

32In this way the whole work of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, was finished. The Israelites carried out everything the LORD had commanded Moses; they did it all.

33Then they brought the tabernacle to Moses: the tent and everything that belonged to it, its clasps, frames, crossbars, pillars and bases, 34the covering of rams’ skins dyed red and the covering of fine leather, and the curtain that screened the ark, 35the ark of the testimony with its poles, and the mercy seat, 36the table with all its utensils and the bread of the Presence, 37the lampstand of pure gold with its lamps set in a row, all its utensils, and the oil for the light, 38the gold altar, the oil for anointing, the spiced incense, and the screen for the doorway of the tent, 39the bronze altar with the bronze grating that belonged to it, its poles and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand, 40the hangings of the courtyard with its pillars and bases, the screen for the courtyard gate, its cords and tent pegs, and all the utensils for the work of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, 41and the finely woven garments for serving in the holy place: the holy garments for Aaron the priest and his sons’ garments for their service as priests. 42In every detail the Israelites had done the whole work as the LORD had commanded Moses. 43Moses looked at all the work, and there it was, done in every point as the LORD had commanded. And Moses blessed them.
