Hallelujah in heaven
1Then I heard something like the loud voice of a huge crowd in heaven: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2whose judgments are true and right. He has passed judgment on the great prostitute who corrupted the earth with her immorality, and from her hand he has required the blood of his servants.” 3Again they said, “Hallelujah! Smoke rises from her forever and ever.” 4The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures bowed down and worshiped God, who is seated on the throne, saying: “Amen! Hallelujah!”
5From the throne a voice called out: “Praise our God, all his servants and all who fear him, the lowly and the great!” 6And I heard something like the voice of a vast crowd, like the roar of many waters and the crash of mighty thunder: “Hallelujah! For the Lord God, the Almighty, has begun to reign. 7Let us be glad and rejoice greatly and give him the glory, for the Lamb’s wedding has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8To her it has been granted to dress in fine linen, shining and pure.” The fine linen is the just deeds of God’s holy people.
9He told me, “Write: How blessed are those who have been called to the Lamb’s wedding feast!” He also told me, “These are the true words of God.” 10Then I threw myself down at his feet to worship him. “Do not!” he said. “I am only a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who keep the testimony of Jesus. Give your worship to God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”a
The rider on the white horse
11Heaven opened before my eyes, and I saw a white horse. The one who sat on it is named Faithful and True; in righteousness he judges and goes to war. 12Like a flame of fire are his eyes, and many royal crowns are on his head. A name is written on him that only he knows. 13The robe he wears has been dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is the Word of God.bc 14Behind him rode the armies that are in heaven, on white horses, clothed in pure white linen. 15From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike the nations. He will shepherd them with a rod of iron, and he treads the winepress of the wine of the furious wrath of God, the Almighty. 16On his robe and on his thigh is written a name: King of kings and Lord of lords.
17Next I saw an angel standing in the sun. In a great voice he called to all the birds that fly high in the sky: “Come and gather for the great supper God is giving, 18to feed on the flesh of kings, of commanders, of the powerful, on the flesh of horses and of those who ride them, on the flesh of everyone, free and slave, lowly and great.” 19I saw the beast, and with it the kings of the earth and their armies, assembled to fight the one who sits on the horse and his army. 20But the beast was seized, together with the false prophet who had worked signs in its presence and had used them to deceive those who took the beast’s mark and bowed down to its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire, burning with sulfur. 21The others were put to death by the sword of the one on the horse, the sword that came out of his mouth, and all the birds ate their fill of their flesh.
