Four horns and four craftsmen
1Then I looked up, and I saw four horns.a 2I asked the angel who talked with me what they were. He answered, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.” 3Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen. 4I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He said, “Those are the horns that scattered Judah so completely that no one could raise their head. But these craftsmen have come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the nations that raised their horns against the land of Judah to scatter its people.”
A man with a measuring line
5Then I looked up, and there was a man with a measuring line in his hand.b 6I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.” 7Then the angel who talked with me stepped forward, and another angel came out to meet him. 8He said to him, “Run, tell that young man: ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited like villages without walls, because of the great number of people and animals in it.c 9And I myself will be a wall of fire around her, declares the LORD, and I will be the glory within her.’”
Come home from the land of the north
10Come! Come! Flee from the land in the north, declares the LORD, \q for like the four winds of heaven I have scattered you, declares the LORD.d 11Come, Zion! \q Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!
12For the LORD of Armies says this, for the sake of his glory he has sent me against the nations that plundered you: \q whoever touches you touches the pupil of his eye.ef 13I am about to raise my hand against them, and they will be plundered by their own slaves. \q Then you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me.
Sing and rejoice, Daughter Zion
14Sing and rejoice, Daughter Zion, \q for I am coming to live among you, declares the LORD. 15Many nations will join themselves to the LORD on that day and will become my people. \q I will live among you, and you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me to you. 16The LORD will possess Judah as his share in the holy land, \q and he will once again choose Jerusalem. 17Be silent before the LORD, all people, \q for he has risen up from his holy dwelling.
