Hide me in the shadow of your wings

1A prayer of David. Hear a just cause, LORD; listen closely to my cry. Turn your ear to my prayer, which comes from lips that do not lie. 2Let my verdict come from you; let your eyes see what is fair. 3You have tested my heart and come to me in the night; you have put me through the fire and found nothing wrong. I have made up my mind not to sin with my mouth. 4Whatever others may do, I have kept to the word that comes from your lips and stayed off the roads of the violent. 5My steps have held to your tracks; my feet have never slid. 6I call to you, for you answer me, God; bend your ear toward me and listen to what I say. 7Show your loyal love in a wonderful way, you who by your right hand save those who come to you for shelter from their attackers. 8Guard me as one guards the pupil of the eye; shelter me under the shade of your wings, 9from the wicked who attack me, from deadly enemies who close in around me. 10They have shut up their hearts, hardened with fat; their mouths speak proud words. 11Now they track our steps and surround us; their eyes are fixed on throwing us to the ground, 12like a lion eager to tear its prey, like a young lion crouching in its lair. 13Rise up, LORD! Meet them face to face and bring them to their knees. Rescue me from the wicked with your sword, 14from such people, LORD, by your hand, from people of this world whose share is in this life alone. You fill their stomachs with what you have stored up; their children have plenty, and they leave what is left to their little ones. 15But I, in the right, will look on your face; when I wake up, the sight of you will be all I want.
