If the LORD had not been on our side
1A song of ascents. Of David. Let Israel say it now: if the LORD had not stood with us, 2if the LORD had not stood with us when people rose up against us, 3then they would have devoured us alive in the heat of their anger against us, 4then the floodwaters would have carried us off, a torrent would have rushed over us, 5then the raging waters would have closed over us. 6Blessed be the LORD! He did not give us up to be torn apart by their teeth. 7We have slipped free like a bird from the bird-catchers’ trap; the trap is broken, and we are free! 8We find our help in the name of the LORD, the one who made heaven and earth.
