Zion, the city of the great King

1A song. A psalm of the sons of Korah. 2The LORD is great and deserves all praise in the city of our God, on his holy mountain. 3Mount Zion rises in beauty, the delight of the whole earth; it is the true heights of Zaphon, the great King’s city. 4Within the city’s strongholds God has proved himself a high refuge. 5Look: the kings gathered their armies and marched on together. 6They looked, and were stunned; they panicked and ran. 7There they were seized with shaking, with pangs like a woman giving birth. 8With a wind from the east you wreck the ships of Tarshish. 9What we had heard, we have now seen with our own eyes in the city of the LORD of Armies, the city of our God: God will make it stand firm forever. Selah 10God, we have reflected on your loyal love here inside your temple. 11Your praise, God, matches your name and spreads to the far ends of the earth; your right hand overflows with justice. 12Let Mount Zion be glad, and the towns of Judah celebrate, because you judge rightly. 13Make a circuit of Zion and walk all the way around; count up its towers, 14take careful note of its walls, walk through its strongholds, so that you can tell the generation to come 15that this is God, our God forever and always; he will be our guide until we die.
