A prayer for the king before battle

¹For the music director. A psalm of David. ²May the LORD answer you when trouble comes; may the God of Jacob, by his name, keep you safe on the heights. ³May he send you help from the holy place and hold you up from Zion. ⁴May he remember every gift you have offered and look with favor on your burnt offerings. Selah ⁵May he grant you what your heart desires and bring every plan of yours to pass. ⁶We will shout for joy when you win the day, and we will raise our banners in our God’s name. May the LORD give you all you ask for. ⁷Now I know that the LORD brings his anointed king through safely; from his holy heaven he will answer him with the mighty saving acts of his right hand. ⁸Some count on chariots, some on horses; we call on the LORD our God by name. ⁹They will buckle and fall, but we will get up and stand our ground. ¹⁰LORD, save! May the King answer us when we cry out.
