Heavens and instruction tell God’s glory

1For the music director. A psalm of David. 2The heavens tell over and over how glorious God is; the vault of the sky makes known what his hands have made. 3Each day passes the message on to the next; each night hands its knowledge to the night that follows. 4There is no speech, there are no words; nothing of their voice reaches the ear. 5Even so, their line runs out over the whole earth, their words to the far edge of the world. There he has set up a tent for the sun, 6and the sun comes out like a bridegroom from the wedding room and runs its course with the joy of a strong warrior. 7It sets out from one edge of the heavens and circles round to the other; nothing escapes its heat. 8The instruction of the LORD is whole and without fault; it brings back life. What the LORD has declared can be trusted; it makes the naive wise. 9The charges the LORD lays down are right and fill the heart with joy; the command of the LORD is clear and makes the eyes shine. 10The fear of the LORD is clean and lasts for all time; the rulings of the LORD are true, and every one of them is just. 11They are worth wanting more than gold, more than a great hoard of fine gold; sweeter than honey, sweeter than honey fresh from the comb. 12They also warn your servant, and those who keep them gain a great reward. 13Who can catch all their own mistakes? Hold me clear of faults hidden even from me. 14Hold your servant back from arrogant sins too; let them never be my master. Then I will be whole and clear of any great rebellion. 15May what my mouth speaks and what my heart ponders be welcome before you, LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
