Lying down in peace
1For the music director. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David. 2When I call, answer me, God who stands up for my right! When I was hemmed in, you gave me room. Show me grace now and listen to my prayer. 3You people, how long will my honor be dragged into disgrace? How long will you love empty things and go looking for lies? Selah 4Be sure of this: the LORD has set apart the one who is faithful to him as his own. The LORD will hear me when I call to him. 5Tremble, and do not sin. Lying on your bed, reason it out in your own heart, and be still. Selaha 6Bring sacrifices as they should be brought, and rely on the LORD. 7Many are saying, “Who will let us see good times?” LORD, turn your shining face toward us. 8The joy you have put in my heart is greater than theirs at harvest, when grain and new wine overflow. 9I will lie down in peace and fall asleep at once, because it is you, LORD, and you alone, who let me live in safety.b
