Teach me your paths and forgive me

1Of David. To you, LORD, I lift up my whole self. 2My God, I trust in you; do not let me be disgraced, and do not let my enemies gloat over me. 3Indeed, everyone who waits for you will be spared disgrace; it is those who betray others for nothing who will be disgraced. 4LORD, let me come to know your ways; teach me to follow your paths. 5Lead me by your faithfulness and teach me, since you are the God who saves me; it is you I wait for the whole day through. 6LORD, keep in mind your tender mercies and your acts of loyal love; they have been yours since ancient times. 7Do not hold against me the sins of my youth or my acts of rebellion; in your loyal love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, LORD. 8The LORD is good and upright; that is why he shows sinners the way to go. 9He directs the lowly in what is just, and to the lowly he teaches his way. 10Every path the LORD takes is loyal love and faithfulness toward all who hold to his covenant and his decrees. 11LORD, for the honor of your name, forgive the wrong I have done, because it is so great. 12Is there anyone who fears the LORD? He will show that person which way to choose. 13They will live their lives in well-being, and their descendants will possess the land. 14The LORD takes those who fear him into his confidence; he lets them know his covenant. 15I never stop looking to the LORD, because he will pull my feet free of the net. 16Turn toward me and show me grace, for I am lonely and in misery. 17The troubles in my heart have grown larger and larger; rescue me from the tight places I am in. 18See my misery and my toil, and lift the weight of all my sins from me. 19Look how my enemies have multiplied, and how violent is the hatred they hold against me. 20Keep my life safe and set me free; do not let me be disgraced, for I have made you my refuge. 21May integrity and uprightness stand guard over me, for I wait for you. 22God, set Israel free from all its troubles.
