Hide me in the shadow of your wings

¹A prayer of David. Hear a just cause, LORD; listen closely to my cry. Turn your ear to my prayer, which comes from lips that do not lie. ²Let my verdict come from you; let your eyes see what is fair. ³You have tested my heart and come to me in the night; you have put me through the fire and found nothing wrong. I have made up my mind not to sin with my mouth.^{a 4}Whatever others may do, I have kept to the word that comes from your lips and stayed off the roads of the violent.^{b 5}My steps have held to your tracks; my feet have never slid. ⁶I call to you, for you answer me, God; bend your ear toward me and listen to what I say. ⁷Show your loyal love in a wonderful way, you who by your right hand save those who come to you for shelter from their attackers. ⁸Guard me as one guards the pupil of the eye; shelter me under the shade of your wings,^{c 9}from the wicked who attack me, from deadly enemies who close in around me. ¹⁰They have shut up their hearts, hardened with fat; their mouths speak proud words. ¹¹Now they track our steps and surround us; their eyes are fixed on throwing us to the ground, ¹²like a lion eager to tear its prey, like a young lion crouching in its lair. ¹³Rise up, LORD! Meet them face to face and bring them to their knees. Rescue me from the wicked with your sword, ¹⁴from such people, LORD, by your hand, from people of this world whose share is in this life alone. You fill their stomachs with what you have stored up; their children have plenty, and they leave what is left to their little ones.^{d 15}But I, in the right, will look on your face; when I wake up, the sight of you will be all I want.^e
