Morning praise and a prayer for victory
1A song. A psalm of David. 2My heart is firm, God; I will sing and play songs of praise with all my soul. 3Come awake, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn. 4LORD, I will thank you before all peoples; I will sing your praise in every nation. 5For your loyal love towers above the heavens, and your faithfulness rises to the clouds. 6God, be lifted high above the heavens; let your glory spread over all the earth. 7So that those you love may be set free, bring rescue with your right hand and answer me! 8God has spoken from his holy place: “I will rejoice as I share out Shechem and mark off the Valley of Succoth. 9Gilead belongs to me, Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is the helmet on my head, Judah the staff of my rule. 10Moab is my washing bowl; on Edom I toss my sandal; I raise the victor’s shout over Philistia!” 11Who will take me into the walled city? Who will guide me all the way to Edom? 12Is it not you, God, who rejected us and no longer march out with our armies? 13Help us against the enemy, for any rescue that people can bring is useless. 14With God on our side we will fight with courage; he is the one who will crush our foes underfoot.
