Pray for Jerusalem’s peace
1A song of ascents. Of David. I was full of joy when they said to me, “Come, let us set out for the house of the LORD!” 2Now here we are, standing inside your gates, Jerusalem! 3Jerusalem, built as a city whose buildings are joined close together, 4where the tribes make their way up, the tribes that belong to the LORD, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. 5For there the seats of justice are placed, the royal thrones of David’s family. 6Pray that Jerusalem will have peace: “May all who love you live at ease. 7Let your walls be at peace and your strongholds be secure.” 8For the sake of my brothers and sisters and my friends I will say, “May peace be inside you!” 9Because the house of the LORD our God is here, I will work for what is good for you.
