Attacked often, never defeated
1A song of ascents. Again and again they have attacked me since I was young — let Israel say it now. 2Again and again they have attacked me since I was young, but they have never beaten me. 3They ran their plows over my back and cut long furrows in it. 4The LORD does what is right: he has cut through the ropes of the wicked. 5May everyone who hates Zion be disgraced and driven back. 6May they be like grass growing on a roof, which dries up before it can grow tall, 7too little to fill a reaper’s hand or to make an armful for the one who ties the sheaves, 8and no one passing by calls out, “The LORD’s blessing be on you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!”
