God’s arrows against secret plotters
1For the music director. A psalm of David. 2God, listen to me as I pour out my complaint; \q keep me safe from the enemy I dread. 3Shelter me from the wicked when they plot together in secret, \q from the restless crowd of those who do evil, 4who grind their tongues sharp as a sword \q and fit bitter words to the bow like arrows, 5to fire from hiding at the blameless; \q all at once they let fly, without any fear. 6They make each other bold in their evil scheme \q and talk of setting traps where none can see; \q they say, “Who will notice them?” 7They search out crimes and say, \q “We have a flawless scheme, thoroughly thought out!” \q How deep are the thoughts and the heart of a human being!a 8But God lets fly an arrow at them; \q in an instant they are wounded. 9Their own words trip them and bring them down; \q everyone who sees them shakes their head. 10Then everyone is struck with awe; \q they announce what God has done \q and think deeply about his deeds. 11May the righteous be glad in the LORD and make him their refuge; \q may all whose hearts are true give praise.
