Praise the LORD, who chose Israel

1Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD; give him praise, you servants of the LORD, 2who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courtyards of the house of our God. 3Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; make music to his name, for that is a delight. 4For the LORD chose Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his special treasure. 5I am sure of it: the LORD is great, and our Lord stands above all gods. 6Whatever the LORD chooses to do, he does it, in the heavens, on the earth, in the seas and in all the ocean depths. 7He raises the clouds from the far edges of the earth; he makes lightning flash with the rain and brings the wind out of his storehouses. 8He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, of people and of animals alike. 9Into your very heart, Egypt, he sent signs and wonders, against Pharaoh and all his officials. 10He struck down many nations and killed powerful kings, 11Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, 12and he gave their land away as a heritage, a heritage for his people Israel. 13LORD, your name will last forever; LORD, people will remember you in every generation. 14For the LORD will take up the cause of his people and show pity to his servants. 15The idols of the nations are made of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. 16They have a mouth, yet say nothing; they have eyes, yet see nothing. 17They have ears, yet hear nothing; there is not even breath in their mouths. 18The people who make them will end up like them, and so will everyone who relies on them. 19People of Israel, bless the LORD! Family of Aaron, bless the LORD! 20Family of Levi, bless the LORD! All who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! 21May the LORD be blessed from Zion, he who lives in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
