Not to us, but to your name

1Do not give us the glory, LORD, do not give it to us. Give it to your name, for the sake of your loyal love and your faithfulness. 2Why should the nations be allowed to say, “So where is their God?” 3Yet our God is in the heavens, and whatever he wills, he does. 4Their idols are made of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. 5They have a mouth, yet say nothing; they have eyes, yet see nothing. 6They have ears, yet hear nothing; they have a nose, yet smell nothing. 7They have hands, yet feel nothing; feet, yet never walk; no sound comes from their throats. 8The people who make them will end up like them, and so will everyone who relies on them. 9People of Israel, put your trust in the LORD! He is the one who helps them and shields them. 10House of Aaron, put your trust in the LORD! He is the one who helps them and shields them. 11You who fear the LORD, put your trust in the LORD! He is the one who helps them and shields them. 12The LORD has kept us in mind, and he will bless: he will bless the people of Israel, he will bless the family of Aaron. 13He will bless all who fear the LORD, the least of them and the greatest alike. 14May the LORD make you grow in number, you and your children too. 15You are blessed by the LORD, the one who made the heavens and the earth. 16The heavens are the LORD’s own heavens; the earth he has handed over to humankind. 17The dead do not praise the LORD, nor do any who sink down into the silence. 18As for us, we will bless the LORD now and for all time to come. Praise the LORD!
