Praise for the God who sends rain
1For the music director. A psalm of David. A song. 2For you, God, in Zion, silence is praise, and to you vows will be kept.a 3You hear prayer; all people will come before you. 4Wrongdoings overwhelm me, but you cover over our rebellions. 5How blessed are those whom you choose and draw close, to dwell in your courts! May we feast on the goodness of your house, your holy temple. 6With deeds that inspire awe you answer us in righteousness, God of our rescue, trusted by all the ends of the earth and by those on the far-off seas, 7who fixed the mountains in place by his power, wearing might like a belt, 8who quiets the thunder of the seas and the crash of their waves, and the uproar of the nations. 9Those who live at the far edges of the world stand in awe of your wonders; you make the lands of sunrise and sunset sing for joy. 10You pay a visit to the earth and soak it with rain; you make it richly fertile. God’s channel is brimming with water; you supply people with grain, for this is how you have prepared the land. 11Pouring water into its furrows and pressing down its ridges, you make the soil soft with rain showers and bless all that springs up from it. 12You set a crown on the year of your goodness, and the tracks of your chariot drip with richness. 13Even the pastures of the open country drip with plenty, and the hills put on joy like a belt. 14Flocks cover the pastures like clothing, and grain wraps the valleys; they cry out in triumph, yes, they sing!
