When I am afraid, I trust
1For the music director. On yonath elem rechokim. Of David. A miktam, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. 2God, show me grace, for people trample on me; \q all day long they fight me and press me hard. 3My enemies hound me all day long; \q many are fighting against me in their arrogance.a 4On the day fear strikes, \q I will rely on you. 5With God I celebrate his promise; \q in God I have put my trust and will not be afraid. \q What can mere flesh do to me? 6All day long they twist what I say; \q every plan they make is for my harm. 7They band together and hide; \q they watch my every step, \q eager to take my life. 8Will they get away with such wickedness? \q God, in anger throw down the nations.b 9You yourself have kept count of my wanderings; \q store my tears in your flask. \q Are they not already in your record? 10When I call for help, my enemies will retreat; \q this much I know, God is on my side. 11In God, whose promise I celebrate, \q in the LORD, whose promise I celebrate, 12in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. \q What can a mere human do to me? 13God, I am bound by the vows I made to you; \q I will pay them with offerings of thanks to you. 14For you have rescued me from death \q and kept my feet from slipping, \q so that I can walk with God \q in the light of the living.
