In the shelter of the Most High
1Whoever makes a home under the cover of the Most High \q will spend the night in the shade of the Almighty. 2This is what I say about the LORD: “He is my shelter and my stronghold, \q my God, the one I rely on.” 3It is he who will rescue you from the bird-catcher’s trap \q and from the plague that destroys. 4He will spread his feathers over you, and beneath his wings you will find shelter. \q His faithfulness surrounds you like a shield and a wall. 5You need not be afraid of the terrors that come at night \q or the arrow that speeds by in daylight, 6or the disease that prowls in the dark, \q or the destruction that ravages at noon. 7A thousand may drop beside you, \q ten thousand close by your right hand, \q yet it will not reach you. 8You will only watch with your own eyes \q and see the wicked paid back. 9For you, LORD, are my refuge! \q You have made the Most High your home.a 10No evil will strike you; \q no plague will get close to your home. 11For he will give his angels orders about you, \q to protect you wherever you go. 12They will carry you in their hands, \q and you will not hurt your foot on a stone. 13You will walk over lions and cobras; \q you will crush young lions and serpents under your feet. 14“Those who cling to me with love I will rescue; \q I will lift them high out of reach, because they know my name. 15They will cry out to me, and I will answer; \q in their distress I will stand by them; \q I will free them and bring them honor. 16I will give them their fill of long life \q and show them my saving help.”
