The LORD is King over all

1The LORD is King! Let the earth be glad, and the many far-off coastlands celebrate. 2Clouds and deep darkness surround him; his throne is built on what is right and just. 3Fire marches ahead of him and burns up his enemies on every side. 4The world is lit by the flash of his lightning; the earth sees it and quakes. 5In the presence of the LORD the mountains soften like wax, in the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6The skies announce that he is righteous, and every people sees his glory. 7Let everyone who serves carved idols be disgraced, all who brag about worthless gods; bow down before him, all you gods! 8Zion hears of it and is filled with joy; the towns of Judah celebrate your acts of justice, LORD. 9For it is you, LORD, who are Most High over the whole earth; you are lifted far above every god. 10All who love the LORD, hate what is evil! He watches over the lives of his faithful people and rescues them from the power of the wicked. 11Light is scattered like seed for the righteous, and joy for those whose hearts are true. 12Be glad in the LORD, you righteous people, and thank him, calling his holy name to mind.
