I love the LORD, who heard me
1I love the LORD, for he listens when I call to him and plead for mercy. 2Because he has turned his ear toward me, I will call to him all my days. 3The ropes of death were wound around me, and the anguish of Sheol had caught me; I met with distress and grief. 4So I cried out to the LORD by name: Please, LORD, save my life! 5The LORD shows grace and does what is right; our God is tender and merciful. 6The LORD keeps watch over people with no defense; when I sank down helpless, he rescued me. 7Come back to your rest, my soul, because the LORD has treated you with kindness. 8You have pulled me back from death, kept my eyes from weeping and my feet from tripping. 9I will go about my life in the presence of the LORD, here in the lands of the living. 10I kept my faith even when I said, I am suffering terribly.a 11In my panic I said, Every human being is false. 12What return can I make to the LORD for all his kindness to me? 13I will lift high the cup of salvation and call out the name of the LORD. 14What I promised the LORD I will carry out, with all his people looking on. 15The death of his loyal ones weighs heavily in the sight of the LORD. 16Yes, LORD, I belong to you as your servant, a servant born to your servant woman; you have untied the ropes that bound me. 17I will bring you a thank offering and call on the LORD by name. 18What I promised the LORD I will carry out, with all his people looking on, 19in the courts of the LORD’s house, within you, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
