The joy of sin forgiven

¹Of David. A maskil. How blessed is the one whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is covered over! ²How blessed is anyone whose guilt the LORD does not hold against them, who has no deceit in their spirit! ³While I kept quiet, my bones wore away with my groaning the whole day long. ⁴Day and night your hand pressed hard on me; the life in me dried up as in the drought of summer. Selah ⁵I made my sin known to you; I did not hide my wrongdoing. I said, “I will own my rebellion before the LORD,” and you took away my sin and its guilt. Selah ⁶So let everyone who is faithful pray to you in the time when you can be found. Even when great waters come flooding in, the flood will not reach them. ⁷You are my shelter where I can hide; you keep me safe from distress and put glad cries of rescue all around me. Selah ⁸I will give you insight and show you the road you are to take; I will advise you and keep my eye on you.^{a 9}Do not be like a horse or mule with no sense, which needs a harness of bit and halter to rein it in, or else it will not come near you. ¹⁰The wicked have many sorrows, but whoever trusts in the LORD is surrounded by loyal love. ¹¹Celebrate in the LORD and be joyful, you righteous; sing out with joy, all whose hearts are upright!
