God has spoken by the Son

1Long ago God spoke to the ancestors through the prophets, in many separate portions and by many different means. 2But at the end of these days he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he appointed heir of all things and through whom he also made the ages. 3The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact stamp of his being, and he bears all things along by his word of power. Having made cleansing for sins through himself, he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4So he has become far better than the angels, as far as the name that is his by inheritance excels theirs.

The Son is greater than the angels

5For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; this very day I have fathered you”? Or again, “I will be a Father to him, and he will be a Son to me”? 6And again, at the time God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “All the angels of God are to worship him.” 7About the angels he says, “He turns his angels into winds, and those who serve him into a flame of fire.” 8But to the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, lasts forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness. 9You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. For that reason God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of rejoicing and set you above your companions.” 10And it also says, “Lord, at the beginning you founded the earth, and the heavens are what your hands have made. 11They will pass away, but you will remain. All of them will wear out as clothing does; 12you will fold them up like a cloak, and like clothing they will be replaced. But you are always the same, and your years will have no end.” 13Has God ever said to any of the angels, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet as a footstool”? 14Are not all the angels spirits in holy service, sent out to serve for the sake of those who are going to inherit salvation?
