The LORD, my shepherd and host
1A psalm of David. \q The LORD is my shepherd; \q I will never be in need. 2He settles me down in meadows of fresh green grass; \q he leads me gently to water where I can rest. 3He brings back my life \q and leads me in the tracks of what is right, \q true to his name. 4Even if my path goes down through a valley of deepest darkness, I will not be afraid of any harm, \q because you are there with me; \q your rod and your staff give me courage.a 5You spread a meal before me while my enemies look on; \q you refresh my head with oil, \q and my cup is full to the brim. 6Goodness and loyal love will surely chase after me every day I live, \q and I will come home to the house of the LORD for all my days to come.b
