My share is the LORD

1A miktam of David. Guard me, God, for I have made you my refuge. 2My soul, you have told the LORD, “You are my Lord; my good is found in you alone.” 3The holy people who live in the land are the truly great; they are my whole delight. 4Those who court another god will have sorrow upon sorrow. I will not pour out their offerings of blood, or even speak the names of their gods. 5The LORD is the share I have been given and the cup I drink; it is you who hold my lot secure. 6The measuring lines have marked out a lovely place for me; truly, the land I inherit delights me. 7I bless the LORD, my adviser; even at night my deepest self keeps teaching me. 8I have placed the LORD in front of me at all times; since he is there at my right hand, I will never stumble. 9That is why my heart is glad and my spirit celebrates; my body too will live in safety. 10For you will not give me up to Sheol, nor allow your loyal one to see the pit. 11You teach me the road that leads to life; in your presence there is joy in full, and at your right hand delights that never end.
