Your name across the whole earth
1For the music director. On the gittith. A psalm of David. 2LORD, our Lord, how glorious is your name across the whole earth! Your splendor reaches higher than the heavens.a 3Out of the mouths of children and babies at the breast you have built a stronghold against your foes, to silence the enemy and the one bent on revenge.b 4When I look up at your heavens, which your fingers made, at the moon and stars you have fixed in their places, 5what are human beings, that you keep them in mind, mere mortals, that you look after them? 6You made them only a little less than God and set a crown of glory and honor on them.c 7You made them rulers over all that your hands have made; you put everything under their feet: 8sheep and cattle, all of them, and the wild animals too, 9the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, and everything that travels the paths of the seas. 10LORD, our Lord, how glorious is your name across the whole earth!
