Restore your vine, God of Armies

1For the music director. On shoshannim eduth. Of Asaph. A psalm. 2Turn your ear to us, Shepherd of Israel, \q guiding Joseph like a flock! \q Throned above the cherubim, blaze out in splendor! 3Before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh, \q rouse your strength \q and come to rescue us! 4God, bring us back! \q Turn the light of your face on us, and we will be saved. 5LORD God of Armies, \q how long will you seethe with anger even while your people pray? 6You have made tears their food, \q and given them full measures of tears to drink. 7You make us something our neighbors fight over, \q and our enemies sneer at us among themselves. 8God of Armies, bring us back! \q Turn the light of your face on us, and we will be saved. 9You lifted a vine out of Egypt; \q you expelled nations to plant it. 10You prepared the soil to receive it; \q it put down its roots and covered the land. 11Its shadow spread over the mountains, \q and its branches over the giant cedars. 12It stretched its branches as far as the sea, \q and its shoots to the River. 13Why did you break down the walls around it? \q Now everyone who walks along the road picks its grapes. 14Wild boars from the forest tear it up, \q and the creatures of the open country feed on it. 15God of Armies, please come back! \q Gaze down from heaven and see; \q care for this vine, 16the root your right hand planted, \q the son you raised to strength for yourself. 17It has been burned with fire and cut down; \q your people are dying under your angry rebuke. 18Let your hand protect the man at your right hand, \q the son of man you raised to strength for yourself. 19Then we will not drift away from you. \q Bring us back to life, and we will call on you by name. 20LORD God of Armies, bring us back! \q Turn the light of your face on us, and we will be saved.
