  1. 신명기 1:3

On the first day of the eleventh month, in the fortieth year, Moses spoke to the Israelites and told them everything that the LORD had commanded him to give them.

  2. 신명기 1:6

“The LORD our God spoke to us at Horeb and said, ‘Your time at this mountain has been long enough.

  3. 신명기 1:8

Look, I have placed the land in front of you. Go in and take possession of the land that the LORD swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and to their descendants after them.’

  4. 신명기 1:10

The LORD your God has increased your numbers, and look at you today: as many as the stars in the sky.

  5. 신명기 1:11

May the LORD, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousandfold beyond what you are now, and bless you as he promised!

  6. 신명기 1:19

We left Horeb and made our way through that whole vast and fearsome wilderness you have seen, along the road to the hill country of the Amorites, as the LORD our God had commanded us, and we came to Kadesh-barnea.

  7. 신명기 1:20

I told you, ‘Now you are at the hill country of the Amorites, the land the LORD our God is giving us.

  8. 신명기 1:21

Look, the LORD your God has placed the land before you. Go up and take possession of it, as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid or lose heart.’

  9. 신명기 1:25

They took some of the land’s fruit with them and brought it down to us. And they gave us their report: ‘The land that the LORD our God is giving us is good.’

  10. 신명기 1:26

But you refused to go up, and set yourselves against the command of the LORD your God.

  11. 신명기 1:27

You complained in your tents and said, ‘The LORD hates us. That is why he brought us out of Egypt: to hand us over to the Amorites to wipe us out.

  12. 신명기 1:30

The LORD your God, who goes ahead of you, is the one who will fight for you, as you saw him do for you in Egypt,

  13. 신명기 1:31

and in the wilderness. There you saw how the LORD your God carried you the whole way you traveled, as a father carries his son, until you arrived here.’

  14. 신명기 1:32

Yet for all this you did not trust the LORD your God,

  15. 신명기 1:34

When the LORD heard what you said, he was angry and swore an oath:

  16. 신명기 1:36

except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he walked on, because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.’

  17. 신명기 1:37

Because of you the LORD was angry with me too, and said, ‘You will not go in there either.

  18. 신명기 1:41

Then you replied to me, ‘We have sinned against the LORD. We will go up and fight, as the LORD our God commanded us.’ So each of you strapped on his weapons, thinking it would be easy to go up into the hill country.

  19. 신명기 1:42

But the LORD said to me, ‘Tell them, “Do not go up, and do not fight. I am not among you, and if you go, your enemies will strike you down.”’

  20. 신명기 1:43

I warned you, but you paid no attention. You set yourselves against the command of the LORD and in your pride went up into the hill country.

  21. 신명기 1:45

Then you came back and wept before the LORD, but the LORD would not listen to your cry or pay any attention to you.

  22. 신명기 2:1

So we turned back and headed into the wilderness by the Red Sea road, as the LORD had told me, and we spent a long time going around the hill country of Seir.

  23. 신명기 2:2

Then the LORD said to me,

  24. 신명기 2:7

The LORD your God has blessed all that your hands have done. He has cared for you as you made your way through this great wilderness. The LORD your God has been with you for these forty years, and you have never gone without anything.”’

  25. 신명기 2:9

Then the LORD said to me, ‘Do not treat Moab as an enemy or start a war with them. I will not give you any of their land to possess, because I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as their own.’

  26. 신명기 2:12

Seir, too, was once the home of the Horites. The descendants of Esau took it from them, wiping them out as they advanced and settling in their place, just as Israel did in the land that the LORD gave it to possess.)

  27. 신명기 2:14

The time from when we left Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years. That was how long it took for the whole generation of fighting men to die out from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

  28. 신명기 2:15

Indeed, the hand of the LORD was against them, sweeping them out of the camp until none of them were left.

  29. 신명기 2:17

    the LORD said to me,

  30. 신명기 2:21

a great people, numerous and as tall as the Anakim. The LORD wiped them out to make way for the Ammonites, who took over their land and settled there in their place,

  31. 신명기 2:29

as the descendants of Esau who live in Seir and the Moabites who live in Ar did for me, until I cross the Jordan into the land that the LORD our God is giving us.’

  32. 신명기 2:30

But Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through his land, because the LORD your God had hardened his spirit and made his heart stubborn, so that he could hand him over to you, as you see today.

  33. 신명기 2:31

Then the LORD said to me, ‘Look, I have begun to hand Sihon and his land over to you. Start now to take possession, so that his land will be yours.’

  34. 신명기 2:33

The LORD our God handed him over to us, and we defeated him, his sons and all his army.

  35. 신명기 2:36

From Aroer, which stands at the edge of the Arnon Valley, and the town that lies in the valley, as far as Gilead, not a single town stood too high for us to take. The LORD our God gave every one of them over to us.

  36. 신명기 2:37

But you did not go near the land of the Ammonites, the whole region along the Jabbok River and the towns in the hill country, just as the LORD our God had commanded.

  37. 신명기 3:2

The LORD said to me, ‘Do not be afraid of him, for I have handed him over to you, together with all his army and his land. Treat him as you treated Sihon king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon.’

  38. 신명기 3:3

So the LORD our God handed Og king of Bashan and all his army over to us as well, and we struck him down until not one survivor was left to him.

  39. 신명기 3:18

At that time I gave you this command: ‘The LORD your God has given you this land to possess. But every fighting man among you is to cross over armed, going ahead of your fellow Israelites.

  40. 신명기 3:20

until the LORD grants your fellow Israelites rest, as he has granted it to you, and they in turn take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving them across the Jordan. Only then may each of you go back to the holding I have given you.’

  41. 신명기 3:21

At that time I commanded Joshua: ‘Your own eyes have seen everything the LORD your God did to these two kings. The LORD will deal in the same way with every kingdom you are crossing over to.

  42. 신명기 3:22

Do not be afraid of them. The one who fights for you is the LORD your God himself.’

  43. 신명기 3:23

At that time I pleaded with the LORD for his favor, saying,

  44. 신명기 3:26

But the LORD was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. The LORD said to me, ‘Let that be enough! Do not bring this matter up with me again.

  45. 신명기 4:1

Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and rulings that I am teaching you to put into practice. Then you will live, and you will enter and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

  46. 신명기 4:2

Add nothing to the word I am commanding you, and take nothing away from it, so that you keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.

  47. 신명기 4:3

Your own eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal-peor: every man who went after the Baal of Peor, the LORD your God wiped out from among you.

  48. 신명기 4:4

But you who clung to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you.

  49. 신명기 4:5

See, I have taught you statutes and rulings, as the LORD my God commanded me, for you to live by in the land you are going into to take possession of.

  50. 신명기 4:7

For what great nation has gods as near to it as the LORD our God is to us whenever we call to him?

  51. 신명기 4:10

above all the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when the LORD said to me, ‘Gather the people to me, and I will let them hear my words. Then they will learn to fear me as long as they live on the earth, and they will teach their children to do the same.’

  52. 신명기 4:12

Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard words being spoken, but you saw no form at all, only a voice.

  53. 신명기 4:14

At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you statutes and rulings for you to follow in the land you are crossing over to take possession of.

  54. 신명기 4:15

Be very careful, then, for your own sake. On the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb from the fire, you did not see any shape at all,

  55. 신명기 4:19

Do not raise your eyes to the sky and, seeing the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, be drawn away to bow down to them and serve them. The LORD your God has allotted them to all the peoples under the whole sky.

  56. 신명기 4:20

But you are the ones the LORD took and brought out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be his own people, his inheritance, as you are today.

  57. 신명기 4:21

Because of you, the LORD was angry with me and swore that I would not go over the Jordan or come into the good land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

  58. 신명기 4:23

Watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the covenant the LORD your God made with you by making yourselves an idol shaped like anything at all, which the LORD your God has forbidden you.

  59. 신명기 4:24

For the LORD your God is a devouring fire, a God who is jealous.

  60. 신명기 4:25

When you have had children and grandchildren and have grown old in the land, and you act corruptly and make an idol in the form of anything, doing what is evil in the sight of the LORD your God and provoking him to anger,

  61. 신명기 4:27

The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left a small number among the nations to which the LORD drives you.

  62. 신명기 4:29

But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

  63. 신명기 4:30

In your distress, when all these things have overtaken you in the days to come, you will turn back to the LORD your God and obey him.

  64. 신명기 4:31

For the LORD your God is a God of compassion. He will not let you go or bring you to ruin, and he will not forget the covenant he swore to your ancestors.

  65. 신명기 4:34

Or did any god ever attempt to come and take one nation for himself from within another, by trials, signs and wonders, by war, by a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt while you watched?

  66. 신명기 4:35

You were shown all this so that you would know that the LORD is God, and that there is no other besides him.

  67. 신명기 4:39

So know this today, and take it to heart: the LORD is God in the heavens above and on the earth below, and there is no other.

  68. 신명기 4:40

Keep his statutes and his commandments that I command you today, and things will go well for you and for your children after you, and you will have long life in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for all time.”

  69. 신명기 5:2

The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb.

  70. 신명기 5:3

The LORD did not make this covenant with our fathers; he made it with us, the ones here today, all of us still alive.

  71. 신명기 5:4

On the mountain the LORD spoke with you face to face, out of the fire.

  72. 신명기 5:5

I was standing between the LORD and you at that time, to make known to you the word of the LORD, since you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain. He said:

  73. 신명기 5:6

‘I am the LORD your God. I brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house where you were slaves.

  74. 신명기 5:9

You shall neither bow to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God. I bring the guilt of fathers upon their children, upon the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me,

  75. 신명기 5:11

You shall not use the name of the LORD your God for what is false or worthless, for the LORD will not let anyone go unpunished who uses his name that way.

  76. 신명기 5:12

Keep the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy, as the LORD your God commanded you.

  77. 신명기 5:14

but the seventh day is a Sabbath for the LORD your God. Do no work on it: not you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, nor the foreigner living among you in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest as you do.

  78. 신명기 5:15

Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God led you out from there by a strong hand and an outstretched arm. For this reason the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

  79. 신명기 5:16

Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you. Then your days will be long, and it will go well with you in the land the LORD your God is going to give you.

  80. 신명기 5:22

The LORD spoke these words to your whole assembly at the mountain, in a great voice out of the fire, the cloud and the thick darkness, and he said no more. He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

  81. 신명기 5:24

and you said, ‘The LORD our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the fire. Today we have seen that God may speak with a person, and that person may still live.

  82. 신명기 5:25

So why should we die now? This great fire will devour us. If we go on hearing the voice of the LORD our God, we will die.

  83. 신명기 5:27

You go near and hear all that the LORD our God says, and then you tell us all that the LORD our God tells you; we will listen and do it.’

  84. 신명기 5:28

The LORD heard what you said when you spoke to me, and the LORD said to me, ‘I have heard what this people said to you. They have spoken well in everything they said.

  85. 신명기 5:32

Take care, then, to do just as the LORD your God has commanded you, turning neither to the right nor to the left.

  86. 신명기 5:33

Walk in every part of the way that the LORD your God has commanded you. Then you will live, it will be well with you, and your days will be long in the land you are going to take possession of.

  87. 신명기 6:1

This is the commandment, the statutes and rulings, that the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, so that you will keep them in the land you are crossing over to take possession of,

  88. 신명기 6:2

so that you may fear the LORD your God and keep all his statutes and commandments that I am giving you, you and your children and grandchildren, as long as you live, and so that your life may be long.

  89. 신명기 6:3

Listen then, Israel, and keep them with care. Then all will be well with you, and you will become very many in a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.

  90. 신명기 6:4

Hear, Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one.

  91. 신명기 6:5

You are to love the LORD your God with your whole heart, with your whole being, and with all your strength.

  92. 신명기 6:10

The LORD your God is bringing you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that he would give you. It has great and fine cities that you did not build,

  93. 신명기 6:12

then watch yourself, so that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

  94. 신명기 6:13

Fear the LORD your God and no other; serve him, and swear your oaths by his name.

  95. 신명기 6:15

For the LORD your God, who is in your midst, is a jealous God; beware, or the anger of the LORD your God will blaze against you and he will wipe you off the face of the earth.

  96. 신명기 6:16

You must not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah.

  97. 신명기 6:17

Take care to keep the commandments of the LORD your God, his decrees and his statutes, which he has commanded you.

  98. 신명기 6:18

Do what the LORD sees as right and good, so that all will be well with you and you can enter and take possession of the good land that the LORD swore to your fathers,

  99. 신명기 6:19

driving out all your enemies before you, as the LORD promised.

  100. 신명기 6:20

Some day your son will ask you, ‘What do they mean, these decrees, statutes and rulings that the LORD our God has commanded you?’

  101. 신명기 6:21

Then tell your son, ‘In Egypt we were slaves to Pharaoh, but by his strong hand the LORD led us out of Egypt.

  102. 신명기 6:22

We saw it with our own eyes: the LORD brought great and devastating signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh and on all his household.

  103. 신명기 6:24

The LORD commanded us to keep all these statutes and to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, so that he might keep us alive, as we are today.

  104. 신명기 6:25

Righteousness will be ours if we take care to keep this whole commandment in the presence of the LORD our God, as he commanded us.’

  105. 신명기 7:1

When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and take as your own, and clears many nations out of your way, the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations greater in number and might than you,

  106. 신명기 7:2

and when the LORD your God hands them over to you and you defeat them, then you are to devote them wholly to destruction. Make no covenant with them, and grant them no favor.

  107. 신명기 7:4

For they would draw your sons away from following me, into the service of other gods, and then the anger of the LORD would flare up against you and he would soon destroy you.

  108. 신명기 7:6

You are a people set apart as holy to the LORD your God. From among every people on the face of the earth, the LORD your God picked you out to belong to him as his treasured possession.

  109. 신명기 7:7

The LORD gave his heart to you and chose you, not because there were more of you than of any other people, for you were the smallest of all the peoples,

  110. 신명기 7:8

but because the LORD loved you and would not break the oath he swore to your ancestors. So he led you out by his strong hand and bought you free from the house where you were slaves, out of the grip of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

  111. 신명기 7:9

So understand that the LORD your God is the true God, the faithful God. He keeps his covenant and his faithful love for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,

  112. 신명기 7:12

If you listen to these rulings and keep them and carry them out, then in return the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the faithful love he promised your ancestors on oath.

  113. 신명기 7:15

The LORD will keep every sickness away from you. None of the dreadful diseases of Egypt that you came to know will he bring on you; instead, he will put them on all who hate you.

  114. 신명기 7:16

You are to make an end of all the peoples the LORD your God is handing over to you. Let no pity for them hold you back, and do not serve their gods; that would be a trap to catch you.

  115. 신명기 7:18

Do not fear them. Keep firmly in mind what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and the whole of Egypt,

  116. 신명기 7:19

the great trials that you watched with your own eyes, the signs, the wonders, the strong hand and the outstretched arm by which the LORD your God led you out. That is what the LORD your God will do to every people you are afraid of.

  117. 신명기 7:20

What is more, the LORD your God will send the hornet against them, until even those left alive and in hiding from you are gone.

  118. 신명기 7:21

Do not tremble before them. The LORD your God is there among you, a God great and awe-inspiring.

  119. 신명기 7:22

The LORD your God will clear these nations out of your way a little at a time. You will not be able to finish them off all at once, or the wild animals would become too many for you.

  120. 신명기 7:23

The LORD your God will hand them over to you and throw them into great panic until they are wiped out.

  121. 신명기 7:25

Burn the carved images of their gods in the fire. Do not set your heart on the silver or gold that covers them, and do not carry it off for yourself; it would catch you like a trap, for the LORD your God detests it.

  122. 신명기 8:1

Be careful to carry out every commandment that I am giving you today, so that you may live and grow in number, and go in and take possession of the land that the LORD promised on oath to your ancestors.

  123. 신명기 8:2

Remember the whole journey on which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness. He did it to humble you and to test you, to know what was in your heart: would you keep his commandments or not?

  124. 신명기 8:3

He brought you low and let you go hungry, then gave you manna to eat, a food that neither you nor your ancestors had ever known. He did this to teach you that people do not live on bread alone, but people live on everything that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

  125. 신명기 8:5

So understand in your heart that the LORD your God disciplines you just as a father disciplines his son.

  126. 신명기 8:6

Keep the commandments of the LORD your God, living by his ways and holding him in awe.

  127. 신명기 8:7

For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land with flowing streams, with springs and underground waters that pour out in the valleys and the hills,

  128. 신명기 8:10

When you have eaten and are full, you are to bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.

  129. 신명기 8:11

Be on your guard against forgetting the LORD your God by neglecting his commandments, his rulings and his statutes that I am giving you today,

  130. 신명기 8:14

your heart may grow proud and you may forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,

  131. 신명기 8:18

Remember the LORD your God instead. It is he who gives you the ability to grow wealthy, in order to carry out the covenant he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today.

  132. 신명기 8:19

If you ever do forget the LORD your God and follow other gods, serving them and bowing down to them, I declare to you today, as a witness, that you will certainly perish.

  133. 신명기 8:20

Like the nations that the LORD is destroying ahead of you, so you will perish, because you would not obey the LORD your God.

  134. 신명기 9:3

So understand today that the LORD your God is the one who goes across ahead of you like a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you, and you will drive them out and wipe them out quickly, as the LORD promised you.

  135. 신명기 9:4

When the LORD your God has pushed them out of your way, do not tell yourself, ‘It is because I am righteous that the LORD has brought me in to take possession of this land.’ No, it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is driving them out before you.

  136. 신명기 9:5

It is not because you are righteous or because your heart is upright that you are going in to take possession of their land. It is because of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD your God is driving them out before you, and to keep the promise that the LORD made on oath to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

  137. 신명기 9:6

Understand, then, that it is not because you are righteous that the LORD your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people.

  138. 신명기 9:7

Remember this and never forget it: how you made the LORD your God angry in the wilderness. From the day you left the land of Egypt until you arrived here, you have kept on rebelling against the LORD.

  139. 신명기 9:8

Even at Horeb you provoked the LORD to anger, and the LORD was so angry with you that he was ready to destroy you.

  140. 신명기 9:9

When I went up the mountain to receive the stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant that the LORD made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights without eating food or drinking water.

  141. 신명기 9:10

The LORD gave me the two stone tablets written by the finger of God. On them were all the words the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.

  142. 신명기 9:11

At the end of the forty days and forty nights, the LORD gave me the two stone tablets, the tablets of the covenant.

  143. 신명기 9:12

Then the LORD said to me, ‘Get up and go down from here at once, because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn from the way I commanded them; they have made themselves an idol of cast metal.’

  144. 신명기 9:13

The LORD also said to me, ‘I have seen this people, and they are indeed a stiff-necked people.

  145. 신명기 9:16

I looked, and there it was: you had sinned against the LORD your God. You had made yourselves a calf cast in metal. You had been quick to turn from the way the LORD had commanded you.

  146. 신명기 9:18

Then I lay face down before the LORD as I had the first time, for forty days and forty nights, without eating food or drinking water, because of all the sin you had committed by doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and provoking him to anger.

  147. 신명기 9:19

I was terrified of the anger and fury the LORD felt against you, enough to destroy you. But the LORD listened to me that time too.

  148. 신명기 9:20

The LORD was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him, and at that time I prayed for Aaron as well.

  149. 신명기 9:22

At Taberah, at Massah, and at Kibroth-hattaavah you also made the LORD angry.

  150. 신명기 9:23

And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh-barnea and said, ‘Go up and take possession of the land I have given you,’ you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You did not trust him or obey him.

  151. 신명기 9:24

You have been rebelling against the LORD from the day I first knew you.

  152. 신명기 9:25

So I lay face down before the LORD those forty days and forty nights, because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

  153. 신명기 9:26

I prayed to the LORD and said, ‘Lord GOD, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance, whom you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

  154. 신명기 9:28

Otherwise the people of the land you brought us out of will say, “Because the LORD could not bring them into the land he had promised them, and because he hated them, he led them out to kill them in the wilderness.”

  155. 신명기 10:1

At that time the LORD said to me, ‘Cut two stone tablets like the first ones and come up to me on the mountain, and make a wooden ark for yourself,

  156. 신명기 10:4

Then he wrote on the tablets what had been written before: the Ten Words that the LORD spoke to you on the mountain out of the fire on the day the assembly gathered. And the LORD gave them to me.

  157. 신명기 10:5

Then I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made. They are still there, just as the LORD commanded me.

  158. 신명기 10:8

It was then that the LORD set the tribe of Levi apart: to carry the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD and serve him, and to bless in his name. They do so to this day.

  159. 신명기 10:9

For this reason Levi has been given no portion of land, no inheritance among his brothers; the LORD is his inheritance, just as the LORD your God promised him.

  160. 신명기 10:10

As before, I remained on the mountain for forty days and forty nights, and this time too the LORD heard me; he was not willing to destroy you.

  161. 신명기 10:11

Then the LORD said to me, ‘Get up and set out at the head of the people, so that they may go in and take possession of the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.’

  162. 신명기 10:12

And now, Israel, what is it that the LORD your God asks of you? Just this: that you fear the LORD your God, follow all his ways and love him, and that you serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

  163. 신명기 10:13

and that you keep the commandments and statutes of the LORD that I am giving you today, for your own good.

  164. 신명기 10:14

See, the LORD your God owns the heavens, even the highest heavens, along with the earth and all that it holds.

  165. 신명기 10:15

Even so, it was your ancestors that the LORD was drawn to in love, and after them he chose their offspring, you, from among all the peoples, as is plain today.

  166. 신명기 10:17

For the LORD your God is God over all gods and Lord over all lords. He is the great God, mighty and awe-inspiring, who plays no favorites and cannot be moved by a bribe.

  167. 신명기 10:20

It is the LORD your God you must fear and serve; hold fast to him, and swear your oaths by his name.

  168. 신명기 10:22

Your ancestors were seventy persons when they went down to Egypt, and now the LORD your God has made you like the stars of the heavens, past counting.

  169. 신명기 11:1

So love the LORD your God, and always keep his requirements, his statutes, his rulings, and his commandments.

  170. 신명기 11:2

Recognize today — for it is not your children I am speaking to, who have neither known nor seen it — the discipline of the LORD your God: his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretched arm,

  171. 신명기 11:4

what he did to the Egyptian army, its horses and its chariots, how he made the waters of the Red Sea flow over them as they chased you, and the LORD destroyed them, and they are gone to this day,

  172. 신명기 11:7

for it is your own eyes that have seen all the great work that the LORD has done.

  173. 신명기 11:9

and so that you may live long in the land that the LORD swore to your ancestors to give to them and to their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.

  174. 신명기 11:12

a land that the LORD your God cares for. The eyes of the LORD your God are on it always, from the beginning of the year to its end.

  175. 신명기 11:13

If you truly obey my commandments that I am giving you today, loving the LORD your God and serving him with all your heart and with all your soul,

  176. 신명기 11:17

and the anger of the LORD blaze against you. Then he will shut up the sky so that there is no rain and the ground yields no crops, and you will quickly be wiped out from the good land that the LORD is giving you.

  177. 신명기 11:21

so that you and your children may live long in the land the LORD swore to your ancestors to give them, as long as the sky remains above the earth.

  178. 신명기 11:22

For if you carefully keep this whole commandment that I am giving you to follow, loving the LORD your God, walking in all his ways, and holding fast to him,

  179. 신명기 11:23

then the LORD will drive out all these nations ahead of you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you are.

  180. 신명기 11:25

No one will be able to stand against you. The LORD your God will put the dread and fear of you on the whole land where you set foot, as he promised you.

  181. 신명기 11:27

the blessing if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you today,

  182. 신명기 11:28

and the curse if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way I am commanding you today and follow other gods that you have not known.

  183. 신명기 11:29

When the LORD your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess, you are to proclaim the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

  184. 신명기 11:31

For you are about to cross the Jordan to go in and take possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving you. When you have taken possession of it and are living in it,

  185. 신명기 12:1

These are the statutes and rulings you must be careful to keep in the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has given you to possess, for as long as you live on its soil.

  186. 신명기 12:4

You must not worship the LORD your God in that way.

  187. 신명기 12:5

Instead, you must seek the place that the LORD your God will choose out of all your tribes to put his name there as his dwelling, and go there.

  188. 신명기 12:7

There you and your households are to eat in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice in all that you have set your hand to, all that the LORD your God has blessed you with.

  189. 신명기 12:9

because you have not yet reached the place of rest, the inheritance that the LORD your God is giving you.

  190. 신명기 12:10

But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance. He will give you rest from all the enemies around you, and you will live in safety,

  191. 신명기 12:11

then you are to bring everything I am commanding you to the place that the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his name: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the gifts you set apart, and all the fine offerings you vow to the LORD.

  192. 신명기 12:12

And you shall rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God, you and your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, and the Levite who lives in your towns, since he has no share or inheritance among you.

  193. 신명기 12:14

but only at the place that the LORD will choose in one of your tribes. There you are to offer your burnt offerings, and there you are to do everything I am commanding you.

  194. 신명기 12:15

However, you may slaughter and eat meat in any of your towns whenever you wish, as much as the LORD your God has blessed you with. Both those who are ritually unclean and those who are clean may eat it, as they would a gazelle or a deer.

  195. 신명기 12:18

but you are to eat them in the presence of the LORD your God, at the place that the LORD your God will choose, you and your son and daughter, your male and female servants, and the Levite who lives in your towns. Rejoice there before the LORD your God in all that you have set your hand to.

  196. 신명기 12:20

When the LORD your God enlarges your territory as he promised you, and you say, ‘I want to eat some meat,’ because you are longing for meat, you may eat meat whenever you want.

  197. 신명기 12:21

If the place where the LORD your God chooses to put his name is too far from you, you may slaughter animals from the herds and flocks that the LORD has given you, as I have commanded you, and eat them in your own towns whenever you wish.

  198. 신명기 12:25

Do not eat it, so that all may go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is right in the sight of the LORD.

  199. 신명기 12:26

But take your holy offerings that are due from you and your vow offerings, and go with them to the place that the LORD will choose.

  200. 신명기 12:27

Offer your burnt offerings, both meat and blood, on the altar of the LORD your God. The blood of your other sacrifices is to be poured out on the altar of the LORD your God, but you may eat the meat.

  201. 신명기 12:28

Be careful to obey all these words I am commanding you, so that all may go well with you and your children after you forever, because you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.

  202. 신명기 12:29

When the LORD your God cuts off before you the nations you are going in to drive out, and you drive them out and settle in their land,

  203. 신명기 12:31

You must not worship the LORD your God in that way, because for their gods they have done every detestable thing that the LORD hates. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as offerings to their gods.

  204. 신명기 13:4

you must not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you, to find out whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

  205. 신명기 13:5

It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must fear. Keep his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and hold fast to him.

  206. 신명기 13:6

That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery. He has tried to turn you aside from the way the LORD your God commanded you to walk in. You must purge the evil from among you.

  207. 신명기 13:11

Stone them to death, because they tried to draw you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

  208. 신명기 13:13

If you hear it said about one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you to live in

  209. 신명기 13:17

Gather all its plunder into the middle of its public square, and burn the town and all its plunder with fire as a whole offering to the LORD your God. It must remain a ruin mound forever and never be rebuilt.

  210. 신명기 13:18

None of the devoted things may stick to your hands, so that the LORD may turn from his burning anger, show you mercy, have compassion on you, and make you many, as he swore to your ancestors,

  211. 신명기 13:19

if you obey the LORD your God by keeping all his commandments that I am giving you today and doing what is right in the sight of the LORD your God.

  212. 신명기 14:1

You are children of the LORD your God. Do not gash yourselves or shave a bald patch on your foreheads in mourning for the dead.

  213. 신명기 14:2

For you are a people set apart as holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

  214. 신명기 14:21

Do not eat anything that has died on its own. The outsider living in your towns may have it to eat if you give it to them, or a foreigner may buy it from you. For you are a people set apart as holy to the LORD your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

  215. 신명기 14:23

Eat it before the LORD your God, in the place he chooses as a dwelling for his name: the tithe of your grain, your new wine and your olive oil, and the firstborn of your cattle and your flocks. In this way you will learn to fear the LORD your God at all times.

  216. 신명기 14:24

If the journey is too long for you and you cannot carry it, because the place where the LORD your God chooses to put his name is too far from you, when the LORD your God has blessed you with plenty,

  217. 신명기 14:25

then turn it into money. Tie up the money and carry it with you to the place the LORD your God chooses.

  218. 신명기 14:26

Spend the money on whatever you wish: cattle, sheep, wine, beer, or anything else you would like. Then eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice, you and your household.

  219. 신명기 14:29

Then the Levite, who has no portion or inheritance among you, and the outsider, the fatherless and the widow who live in your towns may come and eat until they are full, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work you do.

  220. 신명기 15:2

This is how the release is to be done: every creditor is to let go of what he has lent to his neighbor. He must not press his neighbor, his fellow Israelite, for payment, because a release in honor of the LORD has been proclaimed.

  221. 신명기 15:4

Yet there will be no one in need among you, for the LORD will surely bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess,

  222. 신명기 15:5

provided that you listen closely to the voice of the LORD your God and carefully keep this whole commandment I lay on you today.

  223. 신명기 15:6

For the LORD your God will bless you, as he promised you. Many nations will borrow from you, and you will borrow from none; many nations will be under your rule, and none will rule you.

  224. 신명기 15:7

If one of your fellow Israelites in one of your towns, in the land the LORD your God is giving you, falls into need, do not harden your heart or keep your hand closed against that needy person.

  225. 신명기 15:9

Be on your guard against a base thought in your heart, such as, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is close,’ so that you look grudgingly at your needy fellow Israelite and give him nothing. He may cry out to the LORD against you, and the sin will be counted against you.

  226. 신명기 15:10

Give to him freely, and do not be sorry in your heart as you give. For this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in every task you take up.

  227. 신명기 15:14

Load him generously with gifts from your flock, your threshing floor and your winepress. Give him a share of what the LORD your God has blessed you with.

  228. 신명기 15:15

Keep in mind that you yourself were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you. This is the reason for the command I give you today.

  229. 신명기 15:18

Do not take it hard when you let him go free. His six years of service have been worth double a hired worker’s wages. And the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.

  230. 신명기 15:19

Every firstborn male born in your herd and your flock is to be made holy to the LORD your God. You must not work the firstborn of your cattle or shear the firstborn of your flock.

  231. 신명기 15:20

Year after year, at the place the LORD will choose, you and your household are to eat it before the LORD your God.

  232. 신명기 15:21

But if it is flawed in any way, lame or blind or with any other serious defect, it is not to be sacrificed to the LORD your God.

  233. 신명기 16:1

Observe the month of Abib by keeping the Passover for the LORD your God, because it was in the month of Abib, at night, that the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt.

  234. 신명기 16:2

Sacrifice the Passover to the LORD your God, from your flock or your herd, at the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for his name.

  235. 신명기 16:5

You may not sacrifice the Passover in just any of the towns the LORD your God is giving you,

  236. 신명기 16:6

but only at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his name. There you are to sacrifice the Passover in the evening, as the sun goes down, at the time of day you came out of Egypt.

  237. 신명기 16:7

Cook it and eat it at the place the LORD your God will choose. Then in the morning turn back and go to your tents.

  238. 신명기 16:8

For six days eat bread made without yeast, and on the seventh day hold a solemn assembly for the LORD your God. Do no work on it.

  239. 신명기 16:10

Then keep the Festival of Weeks for the LORD your God, bringing a freewill offering from your own hand, as much as fits the way the LORD your God has blessed you.

  240. 신명기 16:11

Rejoice before the LORD your God, you and your son and daughter, your male and female servants, the Levite who lives in your towns, and the outsider, the fatherless child and the widow who live among you. Rejoice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his name.

  241. 신명기 16:15

For seven days keep the festival for the LORD your God at the place the LORD will choose. For the LORD your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all that your hands do, and you are to be nothing but joyful.

  242. 신명기 16:16

Every male among you is to appear before the LORD your God three times a year, at the place he will choose. The three times are the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks and the Festival of Booths. None of them is to come before the LORD with empty hands.

  243. 신명기 16:17

Each of them is to give as he is able, in keeping with the blessing the LORD your God has given you.

  244. 신명기 16:18

Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes in all the towns the LORD your God is giving you, and they are to judge the people with fair judgment.

  245. 신명기 16:20

Pursue what is right, nothing but what is right, so that you may live and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you.

  246. 신명기 16:21

Do not plant any tree as an Asherah pole beside the altar you build for the LORD your God.

  247. 신명기 16:22

And do not set up a standing stone, a thing the LORD your God hates.

  248. 신명기 17:1

Do not sacrifice an ox or a sheep or goat to the LORD your God if it has a defect or anything wrong with it, because that is detestable to the LORD your God.

  249. 신명기 17:2

If a man or a woman is found among you, in one of the towns that the LORD your God is giving you, doing what is evil in the sight of the LORD your God and breaking his covenant,

  250. 신명기 17:8

If a case is too hard for you to decide, whether it concerns bloodshed, legal claims or injuries, any kind of dispute in your towns, then you are to set out and go up to the place the LORD your God will choose,

  251. 신명기 17:10

Then carry out the verdict they announce to you there, at the place the LORD will choose. Take care to follow all their directions exactly.

  252. 신명기 17:12

Anyone who arrogantly refuses to listen to the priest who stands there serving the LORD your God, or to the judge, must die. In this way you will remove the evil from Israel.

  253. 신명기 17:14

Once you have entered the land that the LORD your God is giving you, and you have taken possession of it and are living there, if you then say, ‘Let us appoint a king over us, like all the nations that surround us,’

  254. 신명기 17:15

you may indeed set a king over you, but it must be the one the LORD your God chooses. Set over you a king from among your fellow Israelites; you may not put a foreigner over you, someone who is not one of your own people.

  255. 신명기 17:16

But he must not build up a large number of horses for himself, or send the people back to Egypt to get more horses, for the LORD has told you, ‘You must never go back that way again.’

  256. 신명기 17:19

He must keep it with him and read from it all his life, so that he learns to fear the LORD his God, carefully keeping every word of this law and these statutes and doing them,

  257. 신명기 18:1

The Levitical priests, and indeed the whole tribe of Levi, will receive no portion and no inheritance alongside Israel. They will eat from the food offerings of the LORD, since these are their inheritance.

  258. 신명기 18:2

Among the other tribes Levi will own nothing as an inheritance; the LORD is his inheritance, as he told him.

  259. 신명기 18:5

Out of all your tribes it is he whom the LORD your God has chosen, he and his sons, to stand and serve in the name of the LORD for all time.

  260. 신명기 18:6

Suppose a Levite comes from one of your towns anywhere in Israel where he has been living, and he comes because he longs with all his heart to go to the place the LORD will choose,

  261. 신명기 18:7

he may serve in the name of the LORD his God just as all the other Levites do who stand there before the LORD.

  262. 신명기 18:9

When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn from those nations to do the detestable things they do.

  263. 신명기 18:12

The LORD detests anyone who does these things. It is for these detestable practices that the LORD your God is driving those nations out before you.

  264. 신명기 18:13

You are to be blameless in your loyalty to the LORD your God.

  265. 신명기 18:14

The nations you are about to dispossess pay attention to fortune-tellers and diviners. But the LORD your God has not allowed you to do the same.

  266. 신명기 18:15

The LORD your God will raise up a prophet for you like me, one of your own fellow Israelites from among you. It is to him you must listen.

  267. 신명기 18:16

It is what you requested from the LORD your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘I must not hear the voice of the LORD my God again or look at this great fire any longer, or I will die.’

  268. 신명기 18:17

Then the LORD said to me, ‘They have spoken well.

  269. 신명기 18:21

You may wonder, ‘How are we to recognize a word that the LORD has not spoken?’

  270. 신명기 18:22

When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and his word does not happen or come true, the LORD did not speak that word. The prophet spoke it presumptuously; do not be afraid of him.

  271. 신명기 19:1

When the LORD your God has destroyed the nations whose land the LORD your God is giving you, and you have driven them out and settled in their towns and houses,

  272. 신명기 19:2

you are to set apart three cities inside your land, the land the LORD your God is giving you to take as your own.

  273. 신명기 19:3

Prepare the roads, and divide into three regions the territory the LORD your God is giving you as your inheritance. Then anyone who has killed someone can flee to one of these cities.

  274. 신명기 19:8

If the LORD your God extends your borders, as he promised your ancestors on oath, and gives you all the land he said he would give them,

  275. 신명기 19:9

because you are careful to keep this whole commandment that I give you today, to love the LORD your God and to walk always in his ways, then add three more cities to these three,

  276. 신명기 19:10

so that innocent blood is not shed in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you do not become guilty of bloodshed.

  277. 신명기 19:14

Do not move your neighbor’s boundary marker, set up by those who came before you, in the inheritance you will receive in the land the LORD your God is giving you as your own.

  278. 신명기 19:17

then the two people who have the dispute must stand before the LORD, in front of the priests and the judges in office at that time.

  279. 신명기 20:1

When you march out to battle against your enemies and face horses and chariots and a force bigger than your own, do not fear them. The LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, is with you.

  280. 신명기 20:4

for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will fight for you against your enemies and give you victory.’

  281. 신명기 20:13

When the LORD your God hands it over to you, put all its men to the sword.

  282. 신명기 20:14

But the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, all its spoil, you may carry off as plunder for yourselves. You may use the spoil of your enemies, which the LORD your God has given you.

  283. 신명기 20:16

But in the cities of these peoples that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes.

  284. 신명기 20:17

You must devote them completely to destruction, the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, just as the LORD your God commanded you,

  285. 신명기 20:18

so that they will not teach you to copy all the detestable practices they have carried out for their gods, and so lead you to sin against the LORD your God.

  286. 신명기 21:1

If someone is found slain, lying in the open country in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to take possession of, and no one knows who struck the victim down,

  287. 신명기 21:5

The priests, the sons of Levi, are to step forward. The LORD your God has chosen them to serve him and to pronounce blessings in the name of the LORD, and their word is to settle every dispute and every case of assault.

  288. 신명기 21:8

Make atonement for your people Israel, whom you redeemed, LORD, and do not hold the guilt of innocent blood against your people Israel.’ Then the bloodshed will be atoned for on their behalf.

  289. 신명기 21:9

In this way you will purge the guilt of innocent blood from among you, for you will be doing what is right in the sight of the LORD.

  290. 신명기 21:10

When you go out to war against your enemies and the LORD your God hands them over to you and you take some of them captive,

  291. 신명기 21:23

you must not leave the body on the tree through the night. Be sure to bury it that same day, for anyone hung on a tree is under God’s curse. You must not make unclean the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

  292. 신명기 22:5

A woman must not wear a man’s things, and a man must not put on a woman’s clothing, because the LORD your God detests anyone who does these things.

  293. 신명기 23:2

No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose penis has been cut off may enter the assembly of the LORD.

  294. 신명기 23:3

No one born of a forbidden union may enter the assembly of the LORD. None of their descendants may enter it, not even in the tenth generation.

  295. 신명기 23:4

No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the LORD. None of them may ever enter it, not even in the tenth generation,

  296. 신명기 23:6

But the LORD your God refused to listen to Balaam. Instead the LORD your God made the curse a blessing for you, since the LORD your God loved you.

  297. 신명기 23:9

The children born to them in the third generation may enter the assembly of the LORD.

  298. 신명기 23:15

For the LORD your God moves about in your camp to rescue you and to hand your enemies over to you. So your camp must be holy, or he may see something indecent among you and turn away from you.

  299. 신명기 23:19

Do not bring a prostitute’s earnings or the wages of a male prostitute into the house of the LORD your God to pay any vow, because both are detestable to the LORD your God.

  300. 신명기 23:21

You may charge interest to a foreigner, but not to a fellow Israelite, so that the LORD your God may bless you in everything you set your hand to in the land you are entering to take possession of.

  301. 신명기 23:22

When you make a vow to the LORD your God, do not put off paying it, for the LORD your God will certainly ask it of you, and you will be guilty of sin.

  302. 신명기 23:24

Be careful to do what you have said, just as you freely vowed it to the LORD your God with your own mouth.

  303. 신명기 24:4

then her first husband, who sent her away, may not take her back to be his wife, since she has been made unclean. That would be detestable in the sight of the LORD. You must not bring sin on the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

  304. 신명기 24:9

Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on your journey after you came out of Egypt.

  305. 신명기 24:13

Be sure to give the pledge back to him at sunset, so that he can sleep in his cloak and bless you. It will be counted as righteousness for you in the sight of the LORD your God.

  306. 신명기 24:15

Give him his pay on the day he works, before the sun sets, because he is poor and is counting on it. Otherwise he may call on the LORD against you, and the sin will be counted against you.

  307. 신명기 24:18

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.

  308. 신명기 24:19

When you are harvesting your field and leave a sheaf behind by mistake, do not go back for it. Let it go to the outsider, the fatherless child and the widow. That way the LORD your God will bless all the work of your hands.

  309. 신명기 25:15

You must have weights that are complete and honest, and measures that are complete and honest, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

  310. 신명기 25:16

For the LORD your God detests anyone who does such things, anyone who acts dishonestly.

  311. 신명기 25:19

So when the LORD your God has given you rest from all the enemies around you in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you must wipe out the memory of Amalek from under the heavens. Do not forget.

  312. 신명기 26:1

When you have come into the land the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance, and have taken possession of it and settled in it,

  313. 신명기 26:2

take some of the first of every crop the ground produces, which you gather from the land that the LORD your God is giving you. Put it in a basket and go to the place that the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for his name.

  314. 신명기 26:3

Go to the priest who is in office at that time and say to him, ‘Today I declare to the LORD your God that I have come into the land the LORD swore to our ancestors to give us.’

  315. 신명기 26:4

The priest will take the basket from your hand and set it down in front of the altar of the LORD your God.

  316. 신명기 26:5

Then you shall speak up and declare before the LORD your God: ‘My ancestor was an Aramean, a wanderer. He went down to Egypt and lived there as a foreigner, few in number, and there he became a great nation, strong and numerous.

  317. 신명기 26:7

Then we cried out to the LORD, the God of our ancestors, and the LORD heard our cry and saw our misery, our toil and our oppression.

  318. 신명기 26:8

The LORD brought us out of Egypt by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, by great terror, and by signs and wonders.

  319. 신명기 26:10

And now here I have brought the first of the produce of the ground that you, O LORD, have given me.’ Then set it down before the LORD your God and bow down in worship before the LORD your God.

  320. 신명기 26:11

And you shall rejoice in all the good things that the LORD your God has given to you and your household, you together with the Levite and the outsider living among you.

  321. 신명기 26:13

then say in the presence of the LORD your God: ‘I have removed the holy portion from my house and have given it to the Levite, the outsider, the fatherless and the widow, just as you commanded me. I have not turned aside from any of your commandments, and I have not forgotten them.

  322. 신명기 26:14

I have not eaten any of it while in mourning, I have not removed any of it while I was unclean, and I have not given any of it for the dead. I have done what the LORD my God said; I have done all that you commanded me.

  323. 신명기 26:16

Today the LORD your God commands you to keep these statutes and rulings. Be careful to keep them with all your heart and with all your soul.

  324. 신명기 26:17

Today you have declared that the LORD is your God, and that you will follow his ways, keep his statutes, commandments and rulings, and listen to his voice.

  325. 신명기 26:18

And today the LORD has declared that you are his people, his treasured possession, as he promised you, and that you are to keep all his commandments,

  326. 신명기 26:19

and that he will set you high above all the nations he has made, to be praised, famous and honored, and that you will be a people holy to the LORD your God, as he promised.”

  327. 신명기 27:2

On the day you cross the Jordan into the land the LORD your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster.

  328. 신명기 27:3

When you have crossed over, write on them every word of this law, so that you may enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, promised you.

  329. 신명기 27:5

Build an altar there to the LORD your God, an altar of stones. Do not use any iron tool on them.

  330. 신명기 27:6

Use uncut stones to build the altar of the LORD your God, and offer burnt offerings on it to the LORD your God.

  331. 신명기 27:7

Sacrifice peace offerings, eat them there, and rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God.

  332. 신명기 27:9

Then Moses and the Levitical priests spoke to all Israel: “Be still and listen, Israel! Today you have become the people of the LORD your God.

  333. 신명기 27:10

So obey the LORD your God and carry out his commandments and statutes that I am giving you today.”

  334. 신명기 27:15

‘Cursed is anyone who makes a carved or cast idol, a thing the LORD detests, the work of a craftsman’s hands, and sets it up in secret.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

  335. 신명기 28:1

If you truly obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commandments that I am giving you today, the LORD your God will raise you high above every nation on earth.

  336. 신명기 28:2

All these blessings will come on you and catch up with you, if you obey the LORD your God.

  337. 신명기 28:7

the LORD will let you defeat the enemies who rise up against you. They will march out against you by one road and flee from you by seven.

  338. 신명기 28:8

the LORD will command blessing to be with you in your barns and in everything you set your hand to. He will bless you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

  339. 신명기 28:9

the LORD will make you a people holy to himself, as he promised you on oath, as long as you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and follow his ways.

  340. 신명기 28:10

Then every people on earth will see that you bear the name of the LORD, and they will be afraid of you.

  341. 신명기 28:11

the LORD will give you plenty of good things: many children, many young among your livestock and rich harvests from your soil, in the land the LORD swore to your ancestors to give you.

  342. 신명기 28:12

the LORD will open for you the heavens, his rich storehouse, to send rain on your land at the right time and to bless all that your hands do. You will lend to many nations and borrow from none.

  343. 신명기 28:13

the LORD will make you the head, never the tail; you will always be at the top and never at the bottom, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you today and carefully keep them,

  344. 신명기 28:15

But if you do not obey the LORD your God and carefully keep all his commandments and statutes that I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and catch up with you.

  345. 신명기 28:20

the LORD will send on you curse, panic and frustration in everything you set your hand to, until you are destroyed and quickly perish, because of the evil you have done in forsaking me.

  346. 신명기 28:21

the LORD will make disease cling to you until he has wiped you out from the land you are entering to take possession of.

  347. 신명기 28:22

the LORD will strike you with wasting disease, fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and the sword, with blight and mildew. They will hunt you down until you perish.

  348. 신명기 28:24

the LORD will turn the rain of your land into powder and dust; it will fall on you from the sky until you are destroyed.

  349. 신명기 28:25

the LORD will let your enemies defeat you. You will march out against them by one road and flee from them by seven. You will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

  350. 신명기 28:27

the LORD will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, scabs and itch that cannot be cured.

  351. 신명기 28:28

the LORD will strike you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind.

  352. 신명기 28:35

the LORD will strike your knees and legs with painful boils that cannot be cured, spreading from the soles of your feet up to the crown of your head.

  353. 신명기 28:36

the LORD will bring you and the king you set over yourselves to a nation that neither you nor your ancestors have known. There you will serve other gods, gods of wood and stone.

  354. 신명기 28:37

You will become an object of horror, a saying and a joke among all the peoples where the LORD drives you.

  355. 신명기 28:45

All these curses will come on you. They will hunt you down and catch up with you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God by keeping the commandments and statutes he commanded you.

  356. 신명기 28:47

Since you did not serve the LORD your God joyfully and with a glad heart when you had plenty of everything,

  357. 신명기 28:48

you will serve the enemies the LORD sends against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and in need of everything. He will lay an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

  358. 신명기 28:49

the LORD will bring against you a nation from far away, from the end of the earth, swooping down like an eagle, a nation whose language you will not understand,

  359. 신명기 28:52

It will besiege all your towns until the high, fortified walls you trust in come down throughout your land. It will besiege all your towns throughout the land the LORD your God has given you.

  360. 신명기 28:53

Then in the siege and in the distress your enemy brings upon you, you will eat your own children, the flesh of the sons and daughters the LORD your God has given you.

  361. 신명기 28:58

If you do not carefully keep every word of this law written in this book, and do not fear this glorious and awesome name, the LORD your God,

  362. 신명기 28:59

then the LORD will strike you and your descendants with astonishing plagues, great and lasting plagues and severe and lasting sicknesses.

  363. 신명기 28:61

the LORD will also bring on you every sickness and plague that is not written in this book of the law, until you are destroyed.

  364. 신명기 28:62

Though you were as many as the stars in the sky, only a few of you will be left, because you did not obey the LORD your God.

  365. 신명기 28:63

Just as the LORD delighted in doing you good and making you many, so the LORD will delight in making you perish and destroying you. You will be torn away from the land you are entering to take possession of.

  366. 신명기 28:64

the LORD will scatter you among all the peoples, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will serve other gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods of wood and stone.

  367. 신명기 28:65

Among those nations you will find no rest, no place to rest the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you an anxious heart, eyes worn out with longing and a despairing spirit.

  368. 신명기 28:68

the LORD will bring you back to Egypt in ships, by the way I promised you would never see again. There you will offer yourselves for sale to your enemies as slaves, men and women, but there will be no buyer.”

  369. 신명기 28:69

These are the words of the covenant the LORD commanded Moses to make in the land of Moab with the Israelites, besides the covenant he had made with them at Horeb.

  370. 신명기 29:1

Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “You yourselves have seen everything the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to his whole land,

  371. 신명기 29:3

Yet up to this day the LORD has not given you an understanding mind, seeing eyes or hearing ears.

  372. 신명기 29:5

You ate no bread and drank no wine or beer, so that you would know that I am the LORD your God.

  373. 신명기 29:9

All of you are standing today before the LORD your God: the leaders of your tribes, your elders and your officials, all the men of Israel,

  374. 신명기 29:11

so that you may pass into the covenant of the LORD your God, and into the oath he is making with you today,

  375. 신명기 29:14

but with those who are standing here with us today before the LORD our God, and also with those who are not with us here today.

  376. 신명기 29:17

Make sure there is no man or woman, no clan or tribe among you, whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God and goes off to serve the gods of those nations. Let no root grow among you that bears poison and bitter fruit.

  377. 신명기 29:19

The LORD will not be willing to forgive that person. Instead, the anger and jealousy of the LORD will burn like fire against them, and every curse written in this book will settle on them, and the LORD will wipe out their name from under heaven.

  378. 신명기 29:20

The LORD will single them out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, in keeping with all the covenant curses written in this book of the law.

  379. 신명기 29:21

In time to come your children, the generation who rise up after you, will speak of it, and so will foreigners who come from a distant land, when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses the LORD has struck it with,

  380. 신명기 29:22

the whole land burned out with sulfur and salt, nothing sown, nothing sprouting, no plant coming up in it, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, when the LORD overthrew them in his anger and fury,

  381. 신명기 29:23

and all the nations will ask, ‘Why has the LORD done this to this land? Why this fierce and terrible anger?’

  382. 신명기 29:24

And the answer will be, ‘It is because they left the covenant of the LORD, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he led them out of Egypt,

  383. 신명기 29:26

So the anger of the LORD burned against that land, and he brought on it every curse written in this book.

  384. 신명기 29:27

The LORD uprooted them from their land in anger, fury and great wrath, and threw them into another land, as it is today.’

  385. 신명기 29:28

The hidden things belong to the LORD our God, but what has been revealed belongs to us and to our children for all time, so that we may do all the words of this law.

  386. 신명기 30:1

When all these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you, and you take them to heart among all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you,

  387. 신명기 30:2

and you and your children turn back to the LORD your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul, doing all that I command you today,

  388. 신명기 30:3

then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you. He will gather you again from all the peoples among whom the LORD your God has scattered you.

  389. 신명기 30:4

Even if you have been driven out to the farthest edge of the sky, from there the LORD your God will gather you up, and from there he will take you back.

  390. 신명기 30:5

The LORD your God will bring you into the land your ancestors took possession of, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your ancestors.

  391. 신명기 30:6

The LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the hearts of your descendants, so that you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and so live.

  392. 신명기 30:7

The LORD your God will lay all these curses on your enemies, the people who hate you and persecuted you.

  393. 신명기 30:8

As for you, you will turn back and obey the LORD, and keep all his commandments that I am giving you today.

  394. 신명기 30:9

The LORD your God will give you plenty in all that you do, in the children you bear, the young of your livestock and the crops of your soil, for your good. For the LORD will once more take delight in doing you good, as he took delight in your ancestors,

  395. 신명기 30:10

if you obey the LORD your God and keep his commandments and statutes, as they are recorded in this book of the law, and if you turn back to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

  396. 신명기 30:16

For what I command you today is that you love the LORD your God, walk in his ways, and keep his commandments, statutes and rulings. Then you will live and grow numerous, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to take possession of.

  397. 신명기 30:20

by loving the LORD your God, obeying him and holding fast to him. For he is your life and your long years, so that you may live in the land that the LORD swore to give to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

  398. 신명기 31:2

He said to them, “I am 120 years old today. I can no longer go out and come in before you, and the LORD has told me, ‘You will not cross this Jordan.’

  399. 신명기 31:3

The LORD your God himself is the one who will cross over before you. He will wipe out these nations in your path, and you will drive them out. Joshua too will cross over at your head, as the LORD has said.

  400. 신명기 31:4

The LORD will deal with them as he dealt with Sihon and Og, the Amorite kings, and with their land, when he destroyed them.

  401. 신명기 31:5

The LORD will hand them over to you, and you must deal with them exactly as I have commanded you.

  402. 신명기 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid of them or tremble before them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not let you go, and he will not abandon you.”

  403. 신명기 31:7

Then Moses summoned Joshua and, with all Israel looking on, said to him, “Be strong and courageous. You are the one who will go with this people into the land the LORD swore to their ancestors to give them, and you will divide it among them as their inheritance.

  404. 신명기 31:8

The LORD himself goes ahead of you, and he will be with you. He will not let you go or abandon you. Do not be afraid or lose heart.”

  405. 신명기 31:9

Then Moses put this law in writing. He handed it to the priests, the descendants of Levi, who were the bearers of the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and to all of Israel’s elders.

  406. 신명기 31:11

when all Israel comes to appear before the LORD your God at the place of his choosing, you must read this law aloud to all Israel, so that they hear it.

  407. 신명기 31:12

Gather the people together, men, women and children, and the outsiders who live in your towns, so that they may hear and learn, and fear the LORD your God, and carefully obey all the words of this law.

  408. 신명기 31:13

Their children, who do not yet know it, will hear it too and learn to fear the LORD your God for as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of.”

  409. 신명기 31:14

The LORD said to Moses, “The time of your death is near. Call Joshua, and the two of you come and stand at the tent of meeting, so that I can commission him.” So Moses and Joshua went and took their places at the tent of meeting.

  410. 신명기 31:15

Then the LORD appeared in a pillar of cloud at the tent, and the pillar stood over its entrance.

  411. 신명기 31:16

The LORD said to Moses, “You are about to rest with your ancestors. Then this people will rise up and prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will abandon me and break my covenant, which I made with them.

  412. 신명기 31:25

he gave this order to the Levites, the bearers of the ark of the covenant of the LORD:

  413. 신명기 31:26

“Take this book of the law and set it next to the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God. Let it stay there as a witness against you.

  414. 신명기 31:27

I know how rebellious and stubborn you are. Even now, while I am still alive and with you, you have been rebelling against the LORD. How much more will you rebel after I am dead!

  415. 신명기 31:29

For I know that once I am dead you will become utterly corrupt and turn aside from the way I have commanded you. In days to come disaster will strike you, because you will do what is evil in the sight of the LORD and provoke him to anger by what your hands have made.”

  416. 신명기 32:3

For I will proclaim the name of the LORD; give our God the praise for his greatness!

  417. 신명기 32:6

Is this how you repay the LORD, you foolish and senseless people? Is he not your father, who brought you into being, who made you and set you firmly in place?

  418. 신명기 32:9

But the LORD’s own portion is his people; Jacob is the share he measured out as his inheritance.

  419. 신명기 32:12

The LORD alone led him; no foreign god was at his side.

  420. 신명기 32:19

The LORD saw it and rejected them, because his sons and his daughters provoked him.

  421. 신명기 32:27

but I feared the taunting of the enemy, that their foes would misunderstand and say, “Our own power has won; it was not the LORD who did all this.”’

  422. 신명기 32:30

How could one chase a thousand, or two drive ten thousand away, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had surrendered them?

  423. 신명기 32:36

For the LORD will do justice for his people and take pity on his servants, once he sees their strength is spent and no one is left, bound or free.

  424. 신명기 32:48

On that very day the LORD said to Moses,

  425. 신명기 33:2

He said: “The LORD came from Sinai and rose like the dawn on them from Seir; he shone out from Mount Paran and came from among myriads of holy ones; from his right hand came a law of fire for them.

  426. 신명기 33:7

This he said of Judah: Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him to his people. He fights for his cause with his own hands; be his help against his enemies.
